An 9% ABV beer in which the fermented sugars were all obtained from malt (20 degrees Plato). A generous dose of hops and a long maturation time makes this beer best of the best. This beer is bottle conditioned and will go through taste evolution during many years. Selected by the brewer from his best peated whisky casks. Matured for a quarter of a year. Winner of the Zythos Beer Festival (ZBF) consumer prize 2011. (Translation by Martinus)

Bottle 2014 vintage shared. Deep reddish brown with nice beige head. Massive peat up front, sour red berries, raisins, figs, light malts, soft ash and rubber, dried apple, lots of herbs, cola, toffee, old rye bread. Under medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied with velvety feel and a bit soft carbonation. A bit too peaty for me, I liked the base beer better.

Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma has dried fruits, figs mostly, dark malts and dark sugar. Taste has also lots of dark, dried fruits, bittersweet taste, slightly roasted malts and dark sugar. Body is heavy and well carbonated. Really nice overall, not very peated, just enough to make it more interesting.

Donker roodbruin bier met beige schuimkraag. Geur: turf! Geroosterde mout, koffie, en rozijntjes? Smaak: Zoet, vanille, rook, geroosterde mout, rozijntjes, chocolade. Man, man lekker en… dan nog mooi in balans en niet plakkerig.

Dark murky brown, thin ringed head. Nose is creamy earthy spice, thin sweetness and vibrant smoke. Initial taste is rusty, sticky sweet then a big of burnt plaster. Softer carbonation than the others and mouthfeel is less sticky. Finishes a decent strum of peppery smoke and lingers long berry sweetness. Pretty gid.
