4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
660 ml bottle, bottled November 2011, bottle #4316. The card attached to the bottle says this was aged in Connemara Whiskey casks. Served in a DFH Signature Glass, the beer pours a reddish/brown color with an inch tan head that stays around for a long time. There’s also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, it smells like dark fruit, peat/smoke, caramel, and some sweet spices. The taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like peat/smoke, dark fruit, dark bread, and some dark chocolate. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s creamy and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I think this is a pretty good overall brew. Even at $14.99 a bottle, I’d certainly buy this again in the future.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Been really looking forward to trying this one. Aroma vanilla, light smoke, honey. Taste is somewhere between a Belgian strong ale and an imperial stout. Sweet roasted malts with a nice bitterness and definite peated whiskey notes in the aftertaste. Lived up to my expectations as a whiskey fan as well.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a clear dark-brown colour with a slim beige head. Nose is mainly peated whiskey, smook and wood, but also has an unpleasant sour tone. Taste first has smoke, liquorice and whiskey but later the strange sour tone in the aroma also hits the tastebuds, sadly. Body is too light for this style of beer, low carbonated. Disappointing.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Whoa, not a fan of this one at all! Nice blend of mahogany and crimson on the pour that produced a solid eggshell cap. Nose is heavy, heavy peat, asphalt, smoke, cigar, aspirin, and oak. Very medicinal, chemical, and peaty in flavor as well. Bandaid, rubber, nail polish remover, paint thinner, and ash. Perhaps a bad bottle?

Bottle at Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival 2013. Hazy deep brown liquid with small light brown head. Aroma of smoke, roasted malt, peat, oak, bread and caramel. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of smoke, chocolate and oak. Medium to full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Nice and smokey.

1.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours a reddish brown with a lacing and creamy beige head. Iodine and tar in the nose. Smells like something you absolutely do not want to drink, medicines anyone? Medium body, sweet overripe fruit, and then ashes and iodine - very VERY heavy on the peat. Alcoholic finish. I don’t dig peat, ’nuff said.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
660 ml bottle
brown unclear colour with an off white head.
Aroma: toasted malts, peat, whiskey and some caramel.
Flavour heavy Peated(smoke and barrel) and whisky dominate the palet there are some wood notes, final alcohol with whisky notes which lasts long.
As it warms up some fruity towns show, don’t drink this to cold.
Not as complex as the Oak aged blended version. Which shows a broad palete when roled through the mouth.
The taste is more one dimensional while being quite impressive.
Medium carbonation and medium body slightly oily texture, However the big taste defines everything and makes it a sipper.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at SBWF 2013. Massive smoky smell, also quite boozy. Smells like a very smoky whisky. Similar taste. Powerfull but still pretty easy to drink.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
@ SBWF 2013: stor fatton. Smaken är ganska rökig men ändå len. Fin balans mellan rök och fat.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from the brewery. Brownish beer with a nice beige head. Smokey, fruity aroma with nice sweetness and some caramell notes. Fruity, malty, caramell, woody flavour with vanilla and choclate hints. Love the combo between fruitiness and smokeness.
