Bottle. Brown with beige head. Lovely aroma of wood, vanilla, raisins, dates and chocolate. Sweet syrup flavour with notes of wood and whisky. Alcohol is present as well with this beer ending in a nice bitterness which also opens up flavours of roasted malts. Very interesting beer.

Alengrin (1049) - BELGIUM - AUG 15, 2014
Winter version of Embrasse, a luxury beer that has been aged on whisky- and cognac barrels for three months; the brewer even suggests to serve this warm with whipped cream, like an Irish coffee, and although I am all for such adventurous experiments, I stay on the safe side this time and taste it in the normal way at cellar temperature. Light beige, thick head, colour a very dark bronze; complex aroma of chocolate, coffee, peat, wood, cognac and whisky noticeable, rosemary, dates, liquorice, meat broth, vanilla, dried plums. Deep and rich malt profile, lots of spicy notes, bitter chocolate, woody finish with again the hints of both whisky and cognac, smokey touch, vinous feeling, warming and long finish. What a treat on a gloomy winter day.

Tasted @ RBBWG 2013 - Thanks Travlr! Pours a clear cola color with a very small head. Smells of peat, smoke and rich malt. Taste is huge and peaty, deep fruit and rich malt. Medium body and average carbonation. This is a huge peat bomb...if you like that sort of thing.

A beautiful reddish copper ale with a thick mocha head. In aroma, a nice dark fruits, licorice, caramel and vanilla. In mouth, a lightly peated malt with grassy notes, oak, vanilla, iodine, watery bodied. Tasted at GRMs tasting.

Thx. to Travlr / Gene for this one @ RBBWG 2013 the morning-after tasting – this was the last Embrasse variation I still hadn’t tried yet. Consequently this is also my #1750 beer rating & #800 Belgian beer (I count DvdK as a Belgian brewery because they are awesome so I claim them). Aged for 3 months 1/3 whisky & 1/3 cognac. The bottle itself is a bit old now, what 2 years? Dunno… Pours a murky wooden brown with café au lait head. Smells sweet of milk chocolate, lots, sugar, creamy, woody with some cognac & whisky. Taste delicious, sweet with milk chocolate, chocolate milk, brown sugar, creamy, vanilla, cupcakes, warming but not boozy in the back with cognac warmth and smoothness plus light peat. Creamy, chocolate milk substance, tough light but perfectly fine. Delicious beer. Quite love it.

probstblueribbon (2892) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 11, 2013
Bomber shared at GRM’s. Very murky mahogany with a thin tan veil. Definite wood, dark dried fruit, a touch bright, tart berries/cherries, decent. Medium+ body, soft effervescence, slick. Some smoke, metallic, dusty/musty, tart cherries, chocolate, not entirely pleasant; off dry with a warm, alcoholic finish hat is very dusty and not quite enjoyable.

TEJA (1281) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 13, 2012
Bottle sampled at Björn, thanks. Small and short brown head. Red-amber color. Much less aroma then the standard Embrass. Chocolate taste with a balanced bitterness. Nice sparkle and fine body.

A clear dark brown colored beer, with a firm beige head. The aroma of dark fruits and dark malt, som wood notes and hints of whisky. The taste of whisky, wood, dark malts and some sweet fruits. The aftertaste is nice sweet with some whisky and bitter notes.

Bottle courtesy of Travlr - many thanks! Slightly medicinal, sweeter beginnings turn into a burnt bitter endgame. Hoped for more...
