superspak (3239) - Michigan, USA - MAY 16, 2015
660 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 12/2014. Pours slightly hazy dark reddish brown color with a 2-3 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big plum, fig, date, pear, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, dark bread, cocoa, pepper, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with awesome complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with good strength. Taste of huge plum, fig, date, pear, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, dark bread, cocoa, pepper, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of plum, pear, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, dark bread, cocoa, pepper, light nuttiness, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible robustness and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; with a fantastic yeast/malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is amazingly well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible Belgian dark ale. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruit/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. An insanely amazing offering.

Bottle 33cl. Ruby red, near brown with an off white head that stays. The aroma has hints of coffee and chocolate. The taste is bittersweet with hints of chocolate and a deep bitterness of coffee. The glow of alcohol is clearly present in the aftertaste. Very beautiful beer!
