Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks Stas. Dark brown with a big bubbly beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, yeast, some roast, some dark fruits and a bit of chocolate. Sweet flavor, malty, with chocolate, roast, some dark fruits, caramel and a drier finish, a bit smoky. Medium-bodied, pretty strong carbonation.

Bottle that has been stored a year at home. Pours very dark with a thick light brown head. Smells a lot of roasted malt and coffee. Medium carbonation, low bitterness. A lot of taste.

Bottle @ #h-J14, 20/06/14. Pours a dark wooden brown with a beige head. Aroma is quite a bit of chocolate, yeast, caramel. Dark fruit and dark maltiness. Dark malty bread. Taste is quite sweet with chocolate, cinnamon, spiciness. Dark maltiness of the bready kind. Light sour and roast. Medium with decent carbonation. This brewery just knows how to brew great beer.

Bottle (330 ml). Dark brown with a huge mostly lasting frothy beige head and some lacing. Aroma is of toffee, some spiciness, hints of dark fruits and Belgian yeast. Taste is slightly sweet and slightly/moderately spicy with dark fruits (plums), yeast and cereals. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Light lingering spicy finish. Different than most of the Belgian Strong Ale, but that’s not necessarely a bad thing. Quite tasty. A tad too spicy for my liking, but the balance isn’t bad.

Bottled. Pours clear, deep amber with a small, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, dried fruit, chocolate and caramel, Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with some bitterness. Medium bodied, watery to oily texture and soft carb. An excellent Belgian.

Shared a 33cl bottle. Pours an almost clear brown colour with floating deposit and a thin off-white lacing. Aroma is liquorice, caramel and roasted. Soft carbonation and medium to full body. Taste is more sweet than bitter but quite balanced. Some alcohol. Overall, a very nice brew although I am drinking it out of season.

Oak, smoke, vanilla, dark fruits - a lot of them, quite sweet, but very balanced, some licorice, every time you tape a sip or smell it you notice something new, forever changing, and very nice.

Kaatuu tulppaaniin hyvin tummanruskeana ja samean näköisenä, noin kolmen sormen paksuisella ja hyvin vahvaa pitsiä jättävällä vaahdolla. Tuoksu on hyvin poikkeava belgiksi: pääosassa on savuinen paahteisuus, jopa tuhkaisuus, jonka taustalla on belgihiivan mausteisuutta (pippuri erottuu selvimmin) sekä tummaa hedelmää (luumua?). Todella erilainen belgi, jossa (imperial) stoutmaisia vaikutteita palaneella paahtuneisuudella. En olisi vahvaksi belgialeksi heti arvannut. Tämä hybridi ei täysin uppoa omaan suuhuni.
