4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark amber with beige tan head which lasts a while, nice looking beer. Aroma is intense, strong dried fruits, roasted malt, toffee/caramel, notes of licorice, coffee, smokey, woody and boozey. Taste is medium to strong sweet initially bet it settles nicely and becomes rather savoury dry bitter, certainly complex! Quite smooth in the mouth, mild carbonation. Pleasing lot lasting and warming finish. Very nice

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle, from Dutch’s, shared with Chris R. Very dark red / brown color. Ring of khaki head. Leaves some bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Lightly slick, then dry in the finish. Bit of metallic up front, but that fades completely after this has a chance to sit for a bit. Dark fruit, bigger chocolate, nuttiness in the aroma. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, lighter bitterness. Just a touch of warmth. A solid, chocolatey belgian dark strong ale. Solid, tasty stuff. Gets better as it goes. Wish it was closer to $11 than $15, though.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Dark, chestnut brown, with a light haze. Bubbly, slow mowing, thick, lasting, tan head. Steve McQueen looker. Big, milk chocolate, milky coffee. Coffee bean roast malts. Lactic shizzle. Taste is sticky sweet. Turns vinous dry. Hint of roast bitterness. Smooth, creamy palate. Finishes vinous, fruity sweet. An oddball. Like an imperial milk stout.
