3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 FatPhil (7511) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 24, 2011
330ml bottle (Viisi Pennia, Helsinki)
6 Porridgy stodgy aroma. Slight orangy esters.
3 Turbid orange (we didn’t pour - naughty boys behind the bar at 5P!)
7 Super sweet mashy malts. Slightly cakey, and overly yeasty due to the pour.
3 Slime due to yeast. May well have been a 4 if I’d poured. Finish very fruity, again orange peel.
14 Lovely easy drinker, no sign of 8.5% at all. Shame about the stodginess which isn’t necessarily a usual feature of the beer at all.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MrHangover (1102) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - DEC 23, 2011
Bottle. Beautiful, slightly hazy orange colour with a cloudy white head on top. Aroma of grains, wheat and oats. Kinda sweet smell. Flavour is fresh baked bread with some nice carbonisation going on. Mouthfeel is great. Nice malty bitter finish. Great find.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Countbeer (2858) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - DEC 20, 2011
Bottle:
Medium pretty vast and slow disappearing off white head on top of a deep dark murky orange colored beer.
Smell lots of grains, oatmeal, malts, some barleys.
Taste grains, malts, oatmeal, barleys, fruit, orange, hops, nice bitter hints of herbs, sweets and a hint of nuts.
Nice bitter barley malty aftertaste.
Low carbo, soft silky mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture.
Another good beer from this brewery, strange but interesting, soft and smooth.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 diabel (1584) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - NOV 25, 2011
Orange, hazy/muddy body with an off-white head. Heavily bitter, lightly sweet flavour. Very well balanced with a floral hoppiness joint with sweet caramel touch. Bit dry. Very complex. Great!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 drpimento (1936) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 4, 2011
Just brought this back from the store and it’s at cellar temp. Opened as a slow gusher and poured with a mammoth, foamy, frothy, fluffy, billowy, thick, cream colored head that lasts forever and some lace. Color is a clear honey amber with loads of tiny bubble trails. Aroma is super yeasty plus spice, malt, earth, bread dough, caramel, and pears. Flavor’s like nose, but with the basic characteristics of bitter, sweet, and acid writ large. However, there’s an odd mineral or chemical component there that is definite and detracting. Excellent body & carbonation. Finish is like flavor and longish. Very good with a strong cheese.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Oluttupa Viisi Penniä, 20110924) The beer poured amber and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had yeast, fruitiness, sweetness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, yeast, malts, sweetness and mild bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. Very Belgian taste and aroma but not so good beer.

Can sample at a tasting. Thanks Rotem. Hazy dark orange. Aroma has a tiny bit of acidity, fruits, a bit of hoppy hints, a bit of caramel hints and some spiciness. Sweet (too sweet) flavor with some spiciness. Medium-bodied. Weird.
