3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Big thx. to Martinus for gifting me this one // I am always up for more good free sours :) // 66 cl. that looks like 75 cl. cheeky // Apparently won the 2011 Silver Award for Belgian Lambic Geuze style at the European Beer Star Awards, neat // its a gusher which is never a good sign, especially with sours // hazy, very murky peach coloured beer with a BIG slowly descending white head, lacing is awesome // smells of soft, murky fermenting peaches & summer fruits, that red wine smell that this type of beer have, red wine gone lactic with wood or something like that, this is strongly lactic, souring, touch exotic fruits, youghurt // round soft mushy overripe fruits, apricot, peaches, summer fruits, strongly lactic / youghurt, stone fruit, perfume :), once again that woody lactic red wine thing but not dominating the fruits or the youghurt // murky, hazy mouthfeel // good but feels a bit like the body needs to be thinned out by either age or by more aggressive bacteria but that might be a personal preference

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at The Farmers’ Cabinet in Philadelphia, PA.
Pours a hazy, dark golden orange/amber color with a two finger frothy white head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lace left behind.
Musty, funky aroma with subtle smokiness and sweet malt. Earthy with a faint barnyard character and some acetic vibegar. Nice malt presence for balance but pretty funky.
Medium bodied with a good balance of earthy funk, sweet malt, subtle smoke and acetic vinegar. Tart and puckering up front with nice funk and sweet acetic acid that lingers over the malt notes into a dry, slightly smokey finish. Hints of caramel and toffee with rauch characteristics creeping in on the back end. Very unique and complex. A bit tough to drink but pretty tasty.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours golden orange with a light hazy and a tight white head. The aroma has a big leathery / tobacco presence along with a sharp sourness. Medium / light crisp refreshing body with sharp carbonation. Starts off with more sourness and citric acid. The leather / tobacco is still there, but more in the back. There is a bit of smokiness as well. The finish has a lingering sour bite. Nicely done and unique for the style.

A - cedar brown. 4 finger head subsides fast. Okay head lacing. SRM of 25.
S - Very faint Lambic scented with a bit of orange zest and candy. Hunt of grapefruit. Maybe floral notes like roses?
T - huge smoked malts taste. Totally dominates the funk. Charcoal and cough medicine and burnt wood. Slight bit of leather and tannins
M - 50/50 carb. Heavy for a geuze. Insane tannins.
O - 80/100. Idk. It’s great but insanely smoky. Not sure why this is 10,50. So smoked. After a glass...drainpour. Just can’t finish it with the charcoal becoming too intense.

Bottle with Dad. Darker shade of brown then i’d expect. Taste is not overly sour an acidic. Slightly fruity and smokey as well. Not my favorite of this style, but interesting. Had more expectations
