taste is smoked. aauwtch. did NOT see that coming... sourness is there as well, but smoke-character overkills everything for me . almways, no matter how small. i could finish my glass, but i’ll never buy this ...

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Best before December 2019
A careful pour into my New Belgium globe glass produces a three-finger thick (including 1 above the rim of my glass), light tan tinged head. The beer is an amber color that shows a brilliantly clear, bright amber hue when held up to the light. The aroma has a Brettanomyces funkiness to it backed by a fruit and tart character. Musty, somewhat musky, lightly Band-Aid like, but this is backed by an ample fruitiness that reminds me of spiced cider. This has a wholesome, hay like, and fresh, yet to be threshed grain aromatic note to it.
Quite effervescent, and fairly light bodied, the beer is definitely light and quaffable. There is a smoky plastic note here that permeates the palate, though it is not overwhelming. The beer is quite dry, it has a nice tartness that accentuates that apple cider like flavor from the aroma (though this time without the spiced character). The tartness here is somewhat light (especially compared to a Lambic), and has a character to it that doesn’t say lactic acid to me, it isn’t really acetic either, and I wonder if it is not a mix of the two, and perhaps some others. There is a slight nuttiness to the finish, brought out by the malt character that also provides a touch of whole grain cracker character, and perhaps a touch of caramelized whole grain.
This is an interesting beer, not at all like a Gueuze, and I have a hard time understanding how this won any award for being such (per the sticker on the bottle); quite apple like, and the tartness isn’t really all that lactic in character. Still this isn’t a bad beer, and is an interesting example of a sour beer that is not a Lambic. I am definitely a bit disappointed that this is not anything like a Gueuze, but it is certainly a bit more than serviceable too.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Head: small white rim that holds on firmly
Colour: deep red golden
Aroma: wood/tanines, wineous, milky sour and malts
Taste: start is slightly malty and little sour, then comes in a beuatifful flavour of the moldy flavour blue cheeses have, also adds some hazelnuts in the taste of the bitterness you get afterwards. the beer is slightly grassy and chalky in the aftertaste, very enjoyable beer and one of my favs right now of the DVDK selection !

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
In line at Crooked Stave WWB Violet release. Thanks, stranger! (Adam?)...slighlty muddy light brown. Nose of funk, lemon, and bandaid. Taste was straight bandaid and naugahyde. I’ve had wines with bandaid as a subtle trait that added complexity but nothing like this..full on plastic. Pretty gross.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
.75 bottle. Copper slight amber, cloudy. Nose has an interesting maltiness, some farmyard hay, but also darker rye/amber flavours. A tad of gluely tones, stables and old leaves. Body is very acidic, a bit thin perhaps in flavour, but has still quite a bit of hops and good funk. A nice horseblanket finish with some murky leaves. Dry, palate cleansing, mouth watering. As the bottle is nearing its end, the flavours intensify and a tart apple fruityness emerges. Very good!

Har något rutten över sig. Känns som en blandning av en lambic och en trapist. Kul bärs. På delirium
