Riktigt gott!

Beautiful clear dark ruby color with nice persistent tan head. Aromas of dark fruit (a bit of plums but mainly cherries), brown bread and caramel. In mouth, it feels fruity with a dry slightly astringent and slightly bitter finish, leading to a good drinkability despite the ABV. You can definitely feel the alcohol.

Aroma of malts, caramel, ripe fruits, hops. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a dry bitter finish. A little alcohol is noticable in the finish, but drinking this you wouldn’t guess the ABV of 13%, it’s just too easily drinkable for that. Excellent Barleywine.

BW + Citrus = Mycket gott.

Bottle: Nose is soft yeast, nuts, some dark fruit, caramel. Taste very rich, nut, caramel leading to a touch of honey, caramel and raisin then a deep rich malt finish, slight chocolate and with a hint of pine. Taste develops in the glass giving plums, spice and vinous dry notes Mouthfeel is creamy. A very nice example, with good emerging complexity.

Bottle. Pours unclear amber in color with a tan head. Dried fruits and berries, toffee sweetness and malty notes in aroma. Actually there’s a bit of spicyness as well present. Fruity sweetness, malty and vinous notes in taste. Toffee, almonds and raisins mixed with wooden notes in finish. Feels quite well balanced.

Very heavy barley wine pushing the meaning of the term to its limits, because apart from beer yeast, wine yeast has also been used here. The 50 cl bottle also reminds me very strongly of an old-fashioned English barley wine. Yellowish beige, creamy head remaining surprisingly stable in view of the ABV; reddish bronze colour, hazy. Powerful aroma spreading a complex perfume of sherry, old port wine, liquorice, gingerbread, figs, ’bessenjenever’, brown bread, honey, cloves, ginger, floral hops. Fruity taste with rather strong carbo for the style, rounded, smooth and resinous mouthfeel, spicy accent, honeyish, caramelly and nutty malts, chocolate touch, dry and complex finish with leafy hop bitterness and a lot of brandy- or gin-like alcohol on the brink of becoming astringent.

Bottled. Pours clear mahagony with an average, lacing, beige head. Aroma pf slightly roasted malts, ripe berries, caramel and wood notes. Sweet flavor that ends up quite dry and slightly bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft to flat carbonation. A very nice Barley.
