3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 benjaminbier (44) - Oregon, USA - SEP 17, 2010
Bottle, 45 degrees, cracks open like a gunshot. Big, pillowy heat settles slowly, brightens the room with cherry aroma and light whiff of alcohol, I am detecting a little sourness in the air. Color is a tawny umber, orange around the edges. Looks like a pale ale or a winter ale, a little hazy, a little special brown. Dive right into that foam, tasting a lively, sweet and sour mix of cherry and ochre. Vibrant mouthfeel like poprocks and soda. Distinct sour apple balanced against cherry sweet. Complex but fast bitter finish.

Pours cloudy golden with a large off-white head. Aroma is malt, alcohol and fruit. Flavour follows the nose. Light bitter.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Kestral (487) - Årnes, NORWAY - SEP 8, 2010
Bottle@Håndverkerstuene. Presents itself formally with a bowtie and fanciness, but turns out to be quite likeable. . Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a massive, creamy, rocky, offwhite head, which leaves much lacing. Loads of belgo yeast up front, alcohol, sweet light fruits, apricots and peaches, lemon, sugary fruitiness all around like the sweet juice from a can of canned fruit. It’s also got this slight spicy edge to it, and a very vague funkiness like from a lambic. Well balanced flavour profile. A good deal of sweetness, but a solid bitterness reins it all in. The finish is a bit short. Carbonation is typical belgian overcarbonated sparkliness, fairly light bodied. Good, but not mindblowing. Complex, but not very interesting. Drinkable, but certainly not sessionable.

330ml bottle, non pasteurised and unfiltered, picked up at Vinmonopolet Vika. Huge, rocky white head atop of a near-clear, golden body. Nice display of lacework. Spiced fruity to the nose. Ditto flavour of spicy citric fruits. Momentary aftertaste of bitter fruits. Notes of alcohol to a soft and dry palate (hotel room, Oslo 07.09.2010).

Bottle.
I liked the beer’s wonderful white foam. The aroma and taste was typical "Belgian" yeast, dried fruit, a touch of grass, malt, caramel, raisins, spices. Refreshing with a nice bitterness Dry aftertaste which also contained taste of nuts. Nice beer!
