BoBoChamp (1334), Gent, Belgium Jul 27, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, balanced, cloudy, rocky head, good brew jhumphries69 (718), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Jul 26, 2008 33cl bottle. Pours a very cloudy golden orange with some brown coloring. The head pours thick, voluminous, cloudy, fluffy, and off-white - and leaves a good bit of lace on the glass. The aroma is quite full and delightful: caramel, orange hard candy, sugar, honey, and hints of funky esters. The flavor has a big malt presence. Again there is a note that resembles orange hard candy. There flavor is sweet with sugar, caramel, and honey; and there is some fruitiness in there, too. At mid-palate, the beer gets more bitter with hints of roasted grain and sugar. It has a very slight acid note, too, which accentuates the orange candy flavors. The finish is sweet with some esters and has a mild but balancing hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is very full in body and a little slippery. The carbonation level is quite high, too, giving the beer a slightly more refreshing, light quality to the texture. Overall, a nice, malty Belgian ale. zeke626 (302), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jul 26, 2008 Bottle, thanks to akevitt for sharing. Pours a cloudy yellow-orange body with lots of sediment and explosive, off-white head. Aroma of belgian malts, yeast, citrus, and spice. Light fizz on the palate; medium-bodied. Flavors of sweet malts, sugar, light citrus, and clove. Sweet malt and orange in the finish. Very drinkable for the style.
