douglas88 (1559), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Jul 19, 2008 Updated: Jul 22, 2008Bottle bought at Sams in Chicago, and drank at 1130 before a wedding. Pours a cloudy orange with a thick and very powerful head. Mountainous. The aroma is full of yeast, spices, and tons of alcohol. The flavor was mostly a rich and full spice profile, along with tons of yeast, apples, and a very dry finish. Great. I enjoyed this one early and pretty warm. Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Jul 16, 2008 What a beer. Pours a thick cloudy mud-yellow color that can be likened to the color of plum flesh. The flavors are incredibly dry and incredibly tart and crisp. Flavors of bubble gum, balloon air, lemony leather and apple skins. Not much hop profile at all, but that’s to be expected. A wonderfully done beer once again. MuttyD (93), Cambridge, USA Jul 15, 2008 Aroma is of apples, citrus fruit, cookie, and plums. Flavor is the same. Golden/amber color. Bubbly on the palate with a bitter and sour finish. jcr (1139), Jasper, Indiana, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottle. A moderately bitter bite cuts through the fruity sweetness and clove spiciness for a well-balanced and complex beer. Huge, rocky, white head that lasts. The body is hazy and dark yellow. The aroma is fulll of clove, honey, lemon, pineapple, mustiness and flowers. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter, but the finish turns moderately bitter and then somewhat sour. Medium body and velvety texture with lots of carbonation. Real craftsmanship is evident in the ability of the beer to present so many aromas and flavors without having them trip over and run into each other. Excellent.
Yves (989), Beerse, Belgium Jul 13, 2008 Blond coloured beer with large white head. In the beginning an uncontrolable head. I had my work to stabalise it ;-). Only few carbonation. Hoppy aroma. Full palate. Finish is hoppy and a little herby. pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pours huge white frothy head. Cloudy golden color. Soapy lacing. Aroma of plum and raisins. Medium mouth feel with a sour finish. tedovertu (259), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Jul 12, 2008 Massive off white head with aroma of plums and oranges. Slightly medium golden/amber color with small suspended particles. Astrigent in nature with a sweet and sour/bitter finish. The flavor did have some cinnamon and carmel tones. Great beer. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 10, 2008 11.2oz bottle. Aroma: Cookies, yeast, honey, cloves and bubblegum. Lots of fruit: banana, grape, lemon. Some perfumey floral notes as it warms. Appearance: Amber in color and fairly clear. Bright white head was huge and foamy/rocky with great retention. Great lacing. Flavor: Cookie, Honey and yeast. Banana, spice, and orange. Some floral and spice hop notes into the finish. A surprising level of bitterness scrubs the palate and lingers. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Moderate alcohol warmth in back of mouth. Overall: Certainly not the best beer I’ve had from De Dolle, but solid. Nice flavor and the hop bitterness was really a nice surprise.
