4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 erickok (802) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - AUG 22, 2010
Large rocky white head over an orange-brown body. Hay, caramel,
different hops, a little citrus; great aroma indeed. Rich dry bitterness. Quite heavy carbonation improves the smell greatly. Aftertaste not too bitter but definitely dry. A brilliant, complex beer. Drink cold. A bit expensive. (Bottle 33cl, 2,95 EUR)
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ibrew2or3 (4699) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - AUG 20, 2010
Bottle pours hazy copper with two inch tan head teased up with a very gentle pour. The aroma has notes of sweet apples and apricots punctuated by various spices, brown sugar and mild malty sweetness. The taste explodes across the palate due to the effervescent carbonation poking out notes of spices, yeasty spices and sharp tartness. The tartness is tempered midway as sweet apple, pear and apricot fruitiness come briefly to the surface. It ends tart with mild drying malt astringency.

Had on tap at De Dolle is Esen. This is quite good with pronounced hops. Very carbonated. Serving: Bottle and Tap
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jaghana (1803) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - AUG 18, 2010
Bottle 33cl. A lightly cloudy copper beer with a huge head that remains properly. Smell is very hopy with agrum notes. Aroma is very hopy, quite bitter, near to some IPA but very refreshing, quite sweet. Very long aftertaste, yeast presence, long bitterness, a nice ale.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dcschiller (1457) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 8, 2010
(11.2 oz botle). Pours a dark yellow-orange color with a gusher white head. Aroma of dried fruit, apricot and spices. Lovely! Taste is bitter-similar to Chimay white. Unusual for most belgian beers. Slight sour/sweet underneath. Medium bodied with oily texture. Highly carbonated with a bitter finish. Alcohol is quite noticeable. I’d like to compare with a one-year aged Ara. Very nice though. Great brewer!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ClubGonzo (1732) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 7, 2010
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a dark hazy orange body with a massive, foamy off-white top, fading slowly away. Smell is orange, citric peels, coriander and hints of nutmeg. Taste is intense and slightly boozy, with a penetrating and perpetuating hop bitterness. Tones of oranges, citrus and coriander, again flanked by a dry hoppy bitterness. Some molasses in the aftertaste. Nice beer, but the yeasty, zesty Belgian blonde is not exactly my favorite style, I’ve come to realize.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 fear025 (212) - Illinois, USA - AUG 2, 2010
Aroma:This beer definitely smells like Belgian yeast. I get clove, coriander, and a little bit of banana in the aroma.
Appearance:Light gold in color. Enormous amounts of big fluffy white head.
Taste:Nicely sweet, with lots of malt. After a sip or two, I get more clove in the foretaste.
Palate:This beer starts off smooth, but gets slightly harsh on the back end.
Overall:Very pleasant, and easily sessionable.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JulienHuxley (1061) - Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 29, 2010
Bottle from Pub St-Alexandre in Qc City. Nice amber pour with very frothy white head. Aroma is very yeasty, some hops, banana/cloves, lots of spice, a bit peppery. Taste is yeasty, spicy and a bit hot with alcohol. Palate is well done, smooth well carbonated belgian feel. Pretty good, I would drink it if it was cheap and readily available which it isn’t for me.
