COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arabier is a pure malt beer brewed with flower Nugget-hops from Poperinge. It has the special dry-hopping taste and aroma, so appreciated by beer lovers all over the world. It is one of the two main beers from De Dolle Brouwers available throughout the year. Aging time is limited due to the fact that hop bitterness declines with age. Store arabier cool and dark and serve cool at 10°C.

Bottle. Moderate straw and bread for the malt, light herbs and lemon for the hops, basement for the yeast and background notes of whiskey, ripe pear, tea and spice. Head is huge, fizzy, white with excellent, crusty lacing and is fully lasting. Color is sparkling clear amber, and gets hazy on the last pour. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a bit of slickness, with a fizzy carbonation and a very dry and a little alcoholic finish. Letting this Belgian Strong Ale warm up opens it’s complexity immensely.

0.33l - Orange liquid under thick, white head of large bubbles. Sour and yeast on nose. Sour palate with a brutal unexpected, cabbage middle follwed by a bitter hop finish. Good except for the cabbage.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy honey colour with a very lively white cap that settles to a thick foam. Sweet aroma of straw with hints of melon. Flavours mostly of straw-like malts, with an intensely peppery bitter finish. Extremely carbonated. Alcoholic heat in the finish. Not my favourite from this otherwise great brewery.

Bottle - This was the first De Dolle beer I’ve had that didn’t really impress me. It was okay, bu with DD I kind of expect a religious experiece. I suppose that speak more to their quality than to this beer specifically. Anyways, this sucker gushed out of the bottle, but I caught most of it. It’s hazy copper in the lgass, with a massive white head. Smells fruity like apricots or peaches, with a little white grape. There’s sharp booze, honey, and lightly spiced bread in there too. Taste is cloves and peppery spice with some sweet, yeasty bread up front. The finish is dry, grassy hops with some residual sweetness. It’s smooth and medium-bodied--fuller than what I expected. It’s got some nice lingering spice and warmth. Overall, a decent beer, but one that I thought would be smoother. For $4 a pop, definitely won’t have this again.
