evergreen0199 (259), London, Greater London, England Aug 31, 2009 Bottle. Hazy golden pour with large white head. Fruity aroma. Bitter, lemon, dry, almost sour taste. Not a fan of this one but I do love De Dolle Brouwers. obguthr (987), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Aug 30, 2009 Smells of vinegar and acetone. Cloudy golden, thick white head, some lacing. Bitter flavor of pears, yeast, and pilsnery hops, with a faint touch of must. Parsley finish. Too much carbonation to drink directly from the bottle. I’ve had much better. jmm635 (250), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 19, 2009 Pale golden color with a tremendously large head. Interesting, inviting aroma of yeast, lemon, sourness, and spices. Lots of pepper on the tongue with a little fruity flavor. Good carbonation. tarheels86 (705), Washington DC, USA Aug 12, 2009 330 mL gusher. Pours a hazy light orange with a two-finger, extremely pillowy, white head that has excellent retention and lacing. Wow this looks beautiful. Aroma is sour apples, peaches, Brett, candi sugar, lemon zest, some funk. Taste is a bit of a letdown: some creamed corn, grainy malt, maize, millet, but also some dry saison-like citrus and potpourri flavors and some black pepper. Perhaps an infected bottle? JohnnyJ (1283), Carlsbad, California, USA Aug 12, 2009 Hazy golden our, huge white head. Lemon zest, grass, banana, pepper, light fruits, and some biscuity malts. A nice drinkable belgian ale. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Aug 10, 2009 pours a hazy golden yellow-orange, with lots of carbonation, a very large egg-shell head, and good lacing.
smell is of sweet fruits, yeast, and a touch of sour malts.
taste is fizzy, sour malt, sweet fruits, peach, and apricot, ends dry, a little sour, and a little bitter. Bloekie (150), Belgium Aug 9, 2009 Golden color with a nice longlasting head. Appearance is a bit hazy. Aroma is not all that noticeable and overwhelming. Flavor is very bitter, indeed a bit like orange zest. Palate is defined by the bitterness which slowly fades away in the mouth. Not the beer I expected it to be. Travlr (700), Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 2, 2009 Thick, hazy orange brown with fluffy, cumulus cloud-like head. Aroma of a grassy meadow on a summer afternoon. Initial flavor is citrus, followed by pepper and malt. Nice bitter finish. Definitely worth seeking out.
