larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Jul 15, 2007 Huge white lasting head. Hazy amber body with lots of carbonation. Sweet fruity spicy aroma with strong bready notes. Strong fruity spicy peppery taste with, again, strong bready, yeasty notes. Spicy, softly metallic, peppery aftertaste. Excellent! A great beer! (0.33l bottle. Unfortunately stored for too long, apparently. I need to rerate.) thenick (742), North Bellmore, New York, USA Jul 15, 2007 Bottle @ Publick House, Brookline, MA. Pours a nice golden color with a frothy head. Aroma is largely citrus with some hop thrown in as well. The taste is largely citrus with a bit of a hop and malt characteristic. The beer has some high carbonation, and this contributes to a dry, hoppy finish. This was my first experience with Belgian Pale Ale, and it was a total winner. CheersMate1 (770), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 7, 2007 Citrus and yeast smell, somewhat boring. Same color as most of the De Dolle products orange/brown/gold. Great color though. Very carbonated, I am not surprised. Citrus taste, and wow what a dry finish this one has. Reminds me of a Saison finish almost. That actually was a nice surprise. The ABV is decent. I like the taste because upfront it has a nice malt and citrus taste, but wow it has a dry finish. I know I said that already but I am trying to emphasize that point as much as possible. This is unlike any of their other products. VikingHammer (362), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA Jul 6, 2007 Murky golden pour with an off white head. Malty aroma with hints of citrus and coriander. Flavor is fruity and spicy with some yeast. Nice dry finish. Very Good Beer. joss (3633), Garching b. München, Germany Jul 4, 2007 Bottle. Citrus, nektarine aroma - big and juicy. Cloudy orange-golden, big eggshell head. Big green herbal hoppy entry makes way, for fruit, dry yeasty funk. Ends on a ultradry hop note again Citrus and spice retronasal.
Somewhat overcarbonated mouthfeel - beating the bubbles out improves the experience.. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jul 2, 2007 Hazy golden yellow with a dense offwhite head. Smokey malt backbone with a bit of skunky hops. The smoke and the hops seems to be an uncommon combination, though this makes me want more of that sort. A bit of ash. A bit of apply tartness. Fresher this would be nicer. A medium build low carbonation with not a lot of viscosity. The flavor is dominated by a strong smokey aspect and some skunked hops. This is like an ashy mesquite flavor. A round but light malt bill, just approaching caramel but not further. Lingering smoke and skunked hops. Fresher hops would make this better. A long dry smokey skunked hop finish. I would love to try this fresh. Trooper11 (464), Suffolk, Virginia, USA Jun 25, 2007 Bottle at Bier Garden Portsmouth VA. Dark copper small tan head. Malty sweet aroma, peppery, strong heavy belgian stays true to the style. Dry finish. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Jun 24, 2007 Updated: Jul 30, 2007Pours a cloudy light amber color with a big foamy off white head. Smells of yeast, citrus fruit, and a little candy sugar. Overall mild. The taste is slightly tart and bitter, a little funky as wel. Get a lot of citrus fruit, lemon, orange, some cinnamon as well. Lot of things going on here. It isnt really balanced that well, seems like I get a new taste with each sip. Not bad though, interesting to say the least.
