Avatar (82), Gliwice, Poland May 27, 2007 0,33 bottle. On my bottle it’s marked as 8% alcohol so it’s on the label on this page... why 7% then? Pours enormous white head. Aroma is not impressive - bit malty and fruity. Yellow-orange in colour. Flavour is bitter. Dry finish. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA May 27, 2007 Updated: May 3, 2008Bottle in a dry Duvel glass. Pours slightly hazy orange with an enormous, white, lasting rocky head with good lacing. Head is a little much, as the whole 11.2 oz beer wouldn’t fit into a Duvel glass that is designed for the purpose. Aroma is slightly tart with mild soapiness and spiciness. Nice malty flavor, like sweet orange tobacco, for an otherwise dry and spicy beer. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Medium body and medium high carbonation make for a refreshing strong beer. An excellent beer.
re-rate 5/3/08. Had to re-rate because I got a nice fresh bottle with no exploding head. Beautiful dry peppery flavor. Incredible. This is the Arabier I remember from Brugse Beertje. Incredible. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA May 26, 2007 Persistant head. Spicy aroma with some brett, I believe. Tasting yields subtle fruits and a rich mouthfeel with a dry finish. DMRz (218), Durham, North Carolina, USA May 26, 2007 This is a nice belgiian strong ale, although I do not think it was worth the rather high price... joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA May 25, 2007 11.2oz. Upon cracking open this beer I expierenced a small amount of gushing. After pouring into the tulip it was solid head. Poured a hazy golden (from the numerous pours). White meringue like head formed and fell excrutiatingly slowly leaving chunky sheet lacing.
Aroma hits first with a scent of muted clove along with a strong yeastiness. Whiffs of the saison like hay funkiness, not as pronounced as in a saison but it’s there from the yeast. Fairly simple aroma but pleasing.
Wow! Much different flavor than I expected from the smell.Bready sweetness flashes up front but is quickly overtaken by a solid dose of bitter grassy hops. Juicy pear as it warms. Finishes with a squeeze of apricot and a mild alcohol spiciness with some rising fumes. Much stronger bitterness than expected. Very unique and flavorful.
Medium bodied with some mild stickiness on the finish. Alcohol fumes travel through the nose. Tongue numbing bitterness. Moderate carbonation.
This is an easy beer to drink. Good flavor and quite unique.
This is a really interesting beer from De Dolle. Nothing like what I was expecting. Much stronger hop presence than expected goes nicely with the other flavors. Looking forward to trying some of the other De Dolle’s I have in the fridge.

Tasted this last @ 15 may ’07 at home.
Dark golden almost orange with white head. Medium tot fulle body. Taste little sour, hoppy, citric, spicey... Bitter spicy finish. Like this beer ! LagerPhan (11), USA May 14, 2007 I drink bottles of this Belgium beer and I am drinking a trappist beer. But no! Is not trappist. But should be trappist with such clean yeast tasting. Why are there not more people drinking this beer and saying it is good on this ratebeer? Hop in flavor and smelling, with not much sugar. Also like "gueuze" beer and with fruity.
