The aroma was lightly fruity and spicy. The fruits that presented were grapes and apricot. The spices were represented as coriander and orange peel. There was also a subtle note of chocolate and caramel in the background. The body was medium full with lively carbonation and a dry, crisp texture. The flavor starts off lightly sweet but quickly takes on a tartness that builds gradually through the long finish. There is also a nice alcohol warmth. swoopjones (1896), Buffalo, New York, USA

A hazy dark golden orange beer with a giant and persistent white head, that requires many pourings and leaves laces on the glass. very nice and complex aroma, malty, yeasty and more hoppy than expected. There are notes of citric fruits, cloves, flowers, light banana. The flavour is complex and fantastic too, with a light sourness and a fantastic hopping. Again fruity and spicy. Medium body, lively carbonation, dry long finish with medium grassy bitterness lingering in your mouth. Fantastic one of the best De Dolle beers, and that is saying something. De Dolle rocks. pivnizub (5002), Bochum, Porúří, Germany

Cloudy, deep golden coloured, huge creamy concrete head; strong fruity nose: oranges, orange peel, lemons with a big dry touch of hops; stronger bitter-sweet flavour, soft MF, medium bodied; lingering finish: first fruity (citrus-fruit), then lingering dry hoppy, almost a bit tart. Huge, frothy Duvel-esque head. Persistent pillow of carbonic acid mutes appealing tones of apple, melon, and dark honey. Bittermelon, tangerine, and medium-sweet white wine flavors. Full-carbonated mouthfeel. Great Belgian golden strong. I could drink this every day.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 18, 2006 Bottle pours a cloudy gold with a huge white head that subsides to a thin lacy layer in a few minutes, butleaving little lace. Aroma is spicy with some stone fruit and citrus. Lively carbonation complements a medium body and alightly resinous mouthfeel. The bitterness overlays and dominates a frutiy sweetness, quickly suppressing it altogether for a very dry finish.
