papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Sep 12, 2006 33CL bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar: Pale golden color with a huge fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy and yeasty. Flavor starts tart white grape wine and finishes with a spicy, orangy, peppery dry bitterness. Light bodied and creamy with spritzy carbonation. Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 9, 2006 Bottle. High white and lasting head. Hazy orange body. Sweet fruity aroma. Dry hops bitterness with a good deal of carbonation and long aftertaste. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA Sep 7, 2006 330 ml bottle, from Holiday Wine Cellar. Pours a hazy golden amber, and my gentle pour gave rise to a huge and fluffy white head that left large splotchy lacing as it diminished. Sweet bready and fruity aroma, light citrus notes, lots of yeastiness, hints of spice and floral hops. Flavor is also sweet and yeasty with an interesting floral and herbal bitterness prominent as well from the generous hopping, lingering astringent and acidic taste. Medium body and fully creamy carbonation. Quite drinkable, but not quite what I was expecting from de dolle. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Sep 5, 2006 Gee whiz,I have had numerous bottles of this and never rated it. So I get one to rate and it seemed a little off so I will go by past impressions. Always seemed to be a bit spicey, doughy and a touch of fruit. My least enjoyable of the de dolle brews. Way,way to carbonated for me as it always seems to be hard to taste when the bubbles are taking the flavor off my tongue. Habanero (610), Tranbjerg, Denmark Sep 1, 2006 Bottle: Pours hazy golden with a huge, white head. The aroma is of yeast, light malt and citrus fruit. The flavour is sweet and slightly malty with notes of yeast, apricot, corriander and other spices. Creamy texture. Medium bodied. The finish is dry with some hop bitterness. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 1, 2006 Bottle. Had one or two other belgian strongs from De Dolle and its never left a good impression with me. Maybe it’s just because my palate has not developed enough to appreciate them. Anyway, I enjoyed this one much more. Pour is clear golden-orange with large, retaining, white head. A beautiful looking belgian. Aroma is dry, with yeast and slight malt notes. Flavor is spicy at first, then turns more sour and tart (one of the reasons i really like this) and a little bit hoppy. While the aroma kind of turns me off, the flavor/palate has much to offer. A nice surprise. gnoff (3559), Göteborg, Sweden Aug 23, 2006 (33 cl bottle at The Rover in Gothenburg) Clear golden color, huge white head. High CO2-level. Sour Belgian ale scent. Rather bitter taste, Belgian after taste. Full mouth feel and medium high bitterness. lgklotet (420), Singapore, Singapore Aug 20, 2006 Bottle. Insane head. Hazy orange. Nose is primarily yeast, perhaps some spice/herb (probably from hops). Alcohol is quite noticeable, hop bitterness very present. Would drink again.
