beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Jan 8, 2006 (12.28.05) 11.2 oz (330 mL) brown bottle purchased from DiCarlo Wine and Spirits (formerly Armanetti’s), Mundelein, IL. Hazy golden yellow Belgium ale having an average white head with good lacing. No discernable carbonation. Nice aromas of fruity esters, honey and malt. Medium bodied that starts with light malt sweetness and honey/toffee flavors. Some sharpness noted. Finishes dry with light fruity aftertaste. A very good drinkable Belgium ale. TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 6, 2006 Pours a hazy brownish orange with a large foamy off white head that left spotty lacing. Aroma is floral, peppery, caramel, yeast and candy sugars. Really a nice lightly sweet aroma. In the taste I’m picking up things similar to the aroma. Maybe a slight roasted malt that I didn’t sense in the arom and the taste is slightly more bitter and less sweet than the aroma. Really a solid beer. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Dec 24, 2005 Hazy buff with a 3" white head. Spicy, peppery, floral aroma. Spritzy and bitter. Light bodied. Yeasty, lightly hoppy flavor with some lemon. Would like to have this one on draught. Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland Dec 24, 2005 Orange colored with strongly hazy appearance. Very big white, lasting head. Strong spices, pepper, fruits, yeast in aroma. Mild alcohol and lemon also in aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor starts with citric and spicy tones, ends with yeast and alcohol. Aftertaste has spices, yeast and mild alcohol. Somehow watery and short ending, still excellent brew! Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Dec 22, 2005 Oh my, Oh my.... This brewery cant do much wrong can it. Aroma just reminds me of belgium, everything that is good about a beer is here. Grapefruit, peach skins for a little dryness, lychee just because they can. Taste is ah yes, the increadable balance that only such brewers as these can match, increadable mix of flavours and a rival for its brother Oerbier. So head to head I shall challange them, it shall be a contest the world over shall watch, the titans of the balance!
Hahaha ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Dec 21, 2005 Cloudy orange body with a moderate head. Aroma is yeast, candy sugar and lighter fruits. Tastes the same, and is quite smooth. A slight hint of acidity in there as well. Good stuff, was probably sitting on the shelf for a while. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Dec 20, 2005 Updated: Apr 6, 2006This beer pours a murky, yeasty light-amber color with an extraordinarly large, off-white, frothy head. Lots of clingy arches of lace. The aroma is tropical and sweet: malty with light notes of toasted grain, cookie and caramel; light hop note of herbs; yeasty with moderate-to-heavy notes of plastic/band-aid, barnyard and horseblanket; moderate miscellaneous notes of pineapple and tropical fruit, green apple peel and spicy alcohol. The flavor is initially lightly sweet and lightly bitter and spicy with a short, lightly bitter finish. The body is medium, the texture is watery with lively carbonation. Overall a complex, pretty and enjoyable beer. PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Dec 18, 2005 Wow, a rich nose full of spicy rum soaked bananas, a touch of coriander. Hazy gold with a really big foamy head. Sweet and fizzy, with a warm alcoholic finish. Yeasty bite, and a big hoppy bitterness lingers for quite awhile!
