COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arabier is a pure malt beer brewed with flower Nugget-hops from Poperinge. It has the special dry-hopping taste and aroma, so appreciated by beer lovers all over the world. It is one of the two main beers from De Dolle Brouwers available throughout the year. Aging time is limited due to the fact that hop bitterness declines with age. Store arabier cool and dark and serve cool at 10°C.

Pours a cloudy orange color that’s not all that attractive. A ton of thick rocky stark white head lies on top and slowly recedes. Aroma is floral and citric but not really acidic-smelling. The De Dolle funk is there but is low-key, and there’s a hint of herbs and white pepper in the smell also. The beer is hopping with carbonation and this suits the citric components well. Herbs and citrus off the bat and spice and funk on the finish. The funk has a little sourness to it, but it really provides a nice sharpness that compliments the herbal/citric flavors well. Pretty unique and I expected no less from De Dolle.

Gold blond coloured beer, light hazy. Average carbonation but a huge white head. Hoppy and yeasty, citrus grassy and herby aroma. Full, strong palate. Finsh is bitter, herby, warming alcoholic with a citrus fruity touch. Very powerfull and enjoyable beer.

Carbonation kicking it as soon as I popped the cap off of the bottle. Clear as a cloudy day this beer. But a large, almost playful, bouncing white head of frothy, fizzy bubbles. Aroma was nice. Sweet malt, fruit, spice. Up front alcohol, then some fruit and pepper. Dry beer. I need some water.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2011 Man, this head just doesn’t stop rising. Another winner from De Dolle, a remarkably dry and crisp ale closer to a saison than a Belgian strong. Very prominent pepper notes with an intense dry finish to it. But there is some citrusy hop fullness in there to balance, along with a bready backbone. Fine stuff, like a nice pinot grigio.

Huge white lasting head. Hazy amber body with lots of carbonation. Sweet fruity spicy aroma with strong bready notes. Strong fruity spicy peppery taste with, again, strong bready, yeasty notes. Spicy, softly metallic, peppery aftertaste. Excellent! A great beer! (0.33l bottle. Unfortunately stored for too long, apparently. I need to rerate.)

Bottle @ Publick House, Brookline, MA. Pours a nice golden color with a frothy head. Aroma is largely citrus with some hop thrown in as well. The taste is largely citrus with a bit of a hop and malt characteristic. The beer has some high carbonation, and this contributes to a dry, hoppy finish. This was my first experience with Belgian Pale Ale, and it was a total winner.
