JayBaxter (386), Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Sep 11, 2005 This beer is very pleasing on the eye, pours dark hazy orange with a HUGE frothy white head.Aroma is sweet and hoppy, but the taste is slightly bitter. The combination works and it isnt like any other beer Ive tasted...another quirky drink from this great brewery. harrisoni (6704), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 11, 2005 Bottle. Dark gold loudy with tight white head, subtle hop nose, some acids in mouth, some citric notes somje yeast. Nice hoppy finish pretty good balance. Nice pale hoppy beer with some good biscuity malt MAP (1085), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Sep 10, 2005 Having this with some angle hair pasta. This thing poured a huge head. And it’s staying there. Aroma is slight bit of banana with some gentle spice to it. A bit of leafy floral hops in the aroma as well. Flavor to this is real crisp and well defined. The hop presence really comes off this with a heavier mouthfeel. FIne hoppy belgian strong. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Sep 10, 2005 Big fluffy head atop a glowing orange beer. Aroma is light spices, yeast, some esters. Taste is more yeast and spiciness, with noticable astringency. Light mouthfeel. Decent spiced finish, but again the astringency offsets. hughie (3018), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Sep 5, 2005 Cloudy golden and a big frothy head. Sweet, fruity aroma, but less fruit in the taste, I thought. Bitterness is very evident early on, tending to obscure the earlier sweetness. Plenty of alcohol in the taste too. Not my favourite Belgian. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Sep 1, 2005 Light fruit aroma. Looks very good. A thick white head that lasts a long time, and a dark orange, cloudy beer. No sediment. Flavor is plain with some malt and bitter hops, none of the fruit or sweetness that you would expect from the aroma. Hopgeek (101), San Diego, California, USA Aug 31, 2005 33cl bottle
Pours a thick, opaque peach color with a hint of brown, makes a huge fluffy white head. Light floral aroma with notes of coriander and cloves. Flavor is complex with fruits and lightly spiced, has a sweet aftertaste. Medium on the palate, creamy texture and finishes dry. A rather good strong pale ale, easy to drink, alcohol content is very subdued by the complexity in the flavors. I would try this one again. Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Aug 24, 2005 Big yeasty aroma - bready, earthy, a little musty, peppery; nice apple-plum fruitiness as well. Hazy golden color, big frothy white head, lots of carbonation evident. Tastes sweet and fruity when it first hits the tongue, but it dries out quickly and ends with a solid hop bitterness. Flavor lacks the complexity and fullness of the aroma. Medium bodied with very high carbonation. A nice Belgian ale, nice yeast character but with more hop bitterness than most Belgians.
