Dark orange, murky pour with a solid, thick white head with good lacing, sediment floating about. Aroma is not very intense, has some faint fruit notes and a bit of raisins. Flavor has some elements of chocolate, dates, yeast and alcohol. Finish is pretty dry. High carbonation but still a decent mouthfeel. Overall, a solid Belgian, not one for the ages, but does in a pinch.

(on bottle) Maybe I´m not good enough to spot the small miracles, but this weat dosen´t save my day. Weak/small nose of the usual yeasts and banana. Dosen´t find the spices or he pepper nat all. A<watery motuh and a very powerfull, allmost smoked, alcoholic finish. Quite a handfull to drink and such an innocent label.

This was like a belgian stron IPA. Soo hoppy. Giant rocky head. Nose of cracked pepper, lemon zest and a touch of candy sugar. The flavour as an overly hoppy golden ale full of cracked pepper.

I was struck by the level of bitterness in Ara Bier. It’s hopping rate seems more along the lines of an APA than a Belgian. Kudos to De Dolle for pushing the envelop. Pours a slightly amber golden with a fine haze of sediment and tiny bubbles of carbonation. The full head leaves behind a a full foamy sheet of lacing as it dissipates. The nose is lightly sour with a bunch of fruity spice notes. Smooth mouthfeel with gentle carbonation, though I could have dealt with something a little more velvety. There’s a small party going on in flavor country here with cherries, honey, baby powder, pear and the afore mentioned bitterness all making a showing. This is nice. I could get used to it.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy honey color pour with large head that dissipates relatively fast. The aroma is beautiful. Pear, pineapple, banana, caramel all things sweet and tart. Spicy start with a noticable alcohol burn, lending to a bitter middle and finish. It mellows a bit as it warms, still a good beer but not great.

The aroma on this beer is marvelous. Very complex. Sweet hints of toffee and caramel. Bananas, pineapples, and peppers are also in there. Honey colored pour that is totally hazy with a huge white frothy head. Smells good and looks good. Start is quite spicy with some noticeable alcohol kick in the middle. Finishes very dry and quite bitter. Tastes a little like burnt toast--which I am not a fan of. Very dry beer that looks and smells great, but tastes very mediocre. Kind of dissapointing seeing it smells and looks so beautiful.

Bottle conditioned from Only Fine Beer. This is that typical golden, dry & hoppy Belgian ale much in the style of Orval. I am not a huge fan of these, but this is better than Orval as it has more subdued dryness, spice character and herbal hoppiness. Quite good then.

Bought this one because of the parrot on the label (and I haven’t had a bad beer from De Dolle yet). Poured a cloudy yellow with an averaged sized white head. Aromas and tastes of spices, bread, yeast and some citiris. Dry finish.

Cloudy orange/red with fine minimal head. Sweet cherry, peach, spice, malt with some citric hops. Nice sparkle, chocolate, nuts, nice citrus with a lingering off dry finish.

cloudy, medium golden, thick, creamy white head...lasting. aroma is loaded with yeast, lemon and spices (coriander and clove). dry-hopping is surprisingly noticeable in the flavor. some alcohol, some fruits and yeast.
