Moderate straw and bread for the malt, light herbs and lemon for the hops, basement for the yeast and background notes of whiskey, ripe pear, tea and spice. Head is huge, fizzy, white with excellent, crusty lacing and is fully lasting. Color is sparkling clear amber, and gets hazy on the last pour. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a bit of slickness, with a fizzy carbonation and a very dry and a little alcoholic finish. Letting this Belgian Strong Ale warm up opens it’s complexity immensely. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Clean body, cloudy taste with fruit accents, awesome! Tangy ending. CheersMate1 (869), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Citrus and yeast smell, somewhat boring. Same color as most of the De Dolle products orange/brown/gold. Great color though. Very carbonated, I am not surprised. Citrus taste, and wow what a dry finish this one has. Reminds me of a Saison finish almost. That actually was a nice surprise. The ABV is decent. I like the taste because upfront it has a nice malt and citrus taste, but wow it has a dry finish. I know I said that already but I am trying to emphasize that point as much as possible. This is unlike any of their other products. cab (863), Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 9, 2008 Bottle: Pour was dark golden with a light tan head. Aroma was sweet, floral, and had a bit of herb/vegetable aroma. Flavor was a bit more subdued from the vegies with sweet malt, mucho fruit and citrus characters, and yeasty notes. Another fine yet complex brew from Chris at De Dolle. Travlr (849), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2009 Thick, hazy orange brown with fluffy, cumulus cloud-like head. Aroma of a grassy meadow on a summer afternoon. Initial flavor is citrus, followed by pepper and malt. Nice bitter finish. Definitely worth seeking out. krisbierjaeger (844), dolores, Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 16, 2005 arabier, the happy parrot, is a beer demonstrably eager to break the bounds of the bottle’s confinement. it eased upward as easily as a trombone slide, a gusset of foam spilling over as naturally and unselfconsciously as shaken champagne. in it’s liquid heart, it’s bright as cadmium chalk and gold leaf, the yellowy translucence of baby carrot tips. the head was a luxuriant mane of frothy ermine, spiralling down the glass like long kite tails torn from satin sheets. a captivating aroma-- one that differentiates it from a tripel: a hazelnut caramel maltiness and cherry chocolate character wafting among the musty yeast effects. the yeast and papery hops are announced as a mildewy portfolio of old papers, aspirin bottle, ancient pine needles dried between skins of parchment and yet--the freshness of green willow bark. in flavor, it’s part arrogant bastard, part dulle teve. lovely. full of toffee sweetness and ruby grapefruit bitterness; a lively carb, and a body like sophia loren’s-- if she’d belonged to the world gym and worked out five days a week. full and taut, a very notable cross-over. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 10, 2008 [Bottle] Very hazy golden with dark particles floating in it and a billowing white head. Aroma is big on yeast, light sourness and a little spice--nutmeg I believe. Taste is also very yeasty with alcohol and a good deal of malt. Medium mouthfeel with an average finish. Alcohol is a little too noticeable, but otherwise I found this to be a very enjoyable beer.
