COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arabier is a pure malt beer brewed with flower Nugget-hops from Poperinge. It has the special dry-hopping taste and aroma, so appreciated by beer lovers all over the world. It is one of the two main beers from De Dolle Brouwers available throughout the year. Aging time is limited due to the fact that hop bitterness declines with age. Store arabier cool and dark and serve cool at 10°C.

Hazy orance/gold color with a large dense head, yeasty nose, bitter/ sour flavor with a good dash of spice, finishes dry. This beer has a lot of good qualities but they don’t seem to work all that well together as a whole.

It’s always a pleasure to taste something from De Dolle, their Arabier is no exception as it pours a slightly hazy but bright gold. The fluffy white head is a work of architecture in itself. Sudsy on top, a moat of fine bubbles sinks around the edges of the glass, producing what looks to be a medieval tower barricaded with thick lacing. Fragrant despite this large head, the nose particularly emphasizes noble hops. An almost cheesy hop component is present and pleasant, accompanied of sweet grains and honey. Herbal aspects are also apparent, denoting thyme and tarragon. This is a light and summery aroma, but don’t think it simple, it’s another Daedalian brew from De Dolle. Hints of banana, pineapple, soap and apple pull you in all different directions. The flavor evolves wildly on the palate starting surprisingly sweet with creamy white honey and a fine tingling of carbonation. Quickly it moves to ample grains and light fruity flavors of peach and hoppy grapefruit, it’s astoundingly balanced. The dry peppery finish leads to an almost smoky and cheesy aftertaste, when finally, coffee appears several seconds after the swallow. Harmonious, drinkable, excellent. I could analyze this one all day, instead I’ll simply urge you to try it for yourself. (03/06/07)

Triple. 100.

4/21/06: 11.2 oz bttl. Pours a hazy, amber-yellow with a huge, frothy, white, fully-lasting head rising like a ice-cream float meniscus... Aromas of heavy yeast, dough, soap and evergreen sap.... Initially lightly sweet flavor with bananas and bubble gum mixed in and a dry med finish... Light-medium body with lively carbonation and a metallic, taco-cornmeal finish... Pretty good, though the finish killed it for me... Much thanks to Will Knight...

The Arabier started to gush all over the place when I cracked the cap off the bottle. The head was enormous, over-the-top. Dry aroma, very spicy and very citrus-like. Loads of hop. Massive taste, very complex and quite bitter. Too much carbonation hurted the mouth(feel) though. I drank this next to a dish based on hummus and chick peas, Arab-ier style. Nice one.

This is a nice belgiian strong ale, although I do not think it was worth the rather high price...
