3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at Staminee De Garre, Brugge, 17/10/14.
Lightly hazed golden with a big old off white head that retains well.
Nose is yeast esters, citric rind, earthy hop, herbal tones, straw, lemon peel, spice.
Taste comprises earthy notes, lemon rind, faint metallic leanings, nettles.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation with a little spritz, hint of booze in the close.
Ok Belgo but doesn’t do a whole lot for me.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
33 cl bottle at home. Pours a rich golden colour with a massive white head. Aroma is of earthy, peppery hop and rich grain. Taste is firmly bitter with a good, balancing background of mellow sweetness. Rich on the palate, well carbonated, the finish is dry and bitter. A truly great beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
330ml bottle served in a Trappist chalice.
A: Pours a slightly cloudy orange color forming a big bubbled white head. Good retention and a small layer the never goes on the top. Some lacings left
S: Very fruity and super-spicy in the nose. Notes of orange, grapefruit, honey and vanilla. Tons of grapes. Delicious flowery hops. Sweet malts and Belgian yeasts backbone
T: Pretty much as the nose. Strong character. Very malty. Slightly sweet upfront followed by spicy notes, orange zest, honey, vanilla. In overall a dry and bitter taste
M: Medium to heavy body. Medium carbonation. Strong bite of hops bitterness as aftertaste
O: Very drinkable. Something between a Strong Pale Ale and a Belgian IPA. Reminded me Duvel, but a super-spiced version of. Absolutely great Belgian beer

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
pours a cloudy dark orange beer with a persistent foam; estery with lot of yellow fruity notes; perfumy and with hints of candy sugars; full-bodied, light chewy and with a solid malt carbonation; sweetness dominates yet fairly bitter and quite dry finish; long hoppy fruity finish with some warming alcohol notes - a great classical

Heldere gouden kleur met heel veel schuim. Ruikt zoetig, kruiden en beetje honing. Smaakt zoetig, iets bitter en kruiden. Best goed.

1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
0.33L bottle. Pours hazy blonde with a huge, rocky white head that lingers for a long time. Aromas are not all that pleasant: dust/minerals, almost a vomity smell, cooked vegetables, woody. Very mild sweetness with some hints of cereal grain, but then quickly goes to herby hop flavor that gets a bit ascerbic towards the middle-end. Finishes with a mellow herby hop bitterness and some alcohol. Medium-light body with a thin mouthfeel and acttive carbonation. Overall, not the most pleasant beer. Aromas are strange, and hop flavors are very present, and emphasizing aspects of herby, hop flavors that I don’t particularly like.
