ElGaucho56 (380), USA Apr 21, 2008 Pours lovely lemony-gold with typical massive de dolle head and whipped frosting foam. Aroma is mildly funky and dusty, with hints of lemongrass, cheesecake (?), perfumy floral dry hops, and sour honey malts. Terribly drinkable, starting with sweet pastry, moving towards a zesty citrus rind before finishing somewhat metallic and medicinally bitter, with a chalky yeast character that resembles some trappists. Not De Dolle’s best beer, but better by far than many others.
steview (783), Oceanside, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 massive white head that sparkles in great rockiness, hazy dark yellow body with light yellow highlight, and few random streams of beading tiny bubbles; light banana, lightly puckering citrus, definitely yeasty, and barely any alcohol presence; somewhat thick and oily yet fizzy and creamy; very good. NoiZe (947), Zeist, Netherlands Oct 2, 2008 Orange colored brew. Yeasty aroma. Flavor is yeasty too, fruity and tick, creamy palate. Nice one. MrChopin (207), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 1, 2008 I don’t think I’ll ever serve another Dolle beer below room temperature... took 10 minutes just to pour a decent glass on this hyperactive beast. Rich gold, the off-white head is mountainous. Strong spice and sour citrus nose, pepper, thick yeast... Wow is that dry and biting. Loads of bitter spice all over the flavor or grapefruit, , though it isn’t acrid like Oude Beersel. Super aggressive, this one makes Mad Bitch look like Gentle Housemaid. BeerGestapo (351), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2008 Brewed in Belgium !! Pours a hazy yellow color with a small lasting white head. Aroma of yeast, with a strong fruit smell, pears, lemons, and oranges. The taste is of oranges, spices and a strong bitter flavor. The mouthfeel is foamy and robust.... and the 8% is very nice too. Another refreshing example from De Doll. :) hirigalzkar (53), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 26, 2008 Bottle. Yeasty aroma. Complex flavor. Fruity and spicy with a hint of honey.
