Pours a hazy orange with a huge frothy white head. Aroma is apple, yeast, sweet malt, a little citrus. Flavor is a bit sugary, honey, light fruits, and spice. A delicious brew, even if the carbonation is over the top.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 wimpie133 (380) - Brugge, BELGIUM - APR 13, 2010
UPDATED: APR 22, 2011 Tap, 25 cl. Lively ambergolden beer with beautiful white head. Aroma is between hoppy and sweet, with some honey and peach in the nose. Taste is fruity, peach, light sweet, and light hopbitter at the end. Nice beer, but not a top beer, as we are used to from "De Dolle Brouwers". (3,5/5)
Re-rate Version 2011, bottle 33 cl. The beer differs in the way the peach notes in aroma and taste are more or less gone. In the taste there is a nice balance between the (nice) sweet taste of cane sugar and malt with the hops, giving a light bitter aftertaste to the beer. The flavours are running beautifully in each other, and it is clear the 2011 version is a much better version of the 2010 version.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Damico (1222) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 4, 2010
Bottle aged one year from Capones. The deep refermented honey aroma fills the nose with a beautifully sweet aroma. The deep honey orange sunset color is complemented by a mammoth foamy head snaking along to the middle as if it were straight out of an ad. The sweet flavors on top of that Belgian strong ale manage to go down so smooth for an ABV of 10. Absolutely delicious.
