COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Nothing special, really not worth to look for it. It’s not bad, but 1 bottle was enough for me :)

Bottle. As with many De Dolle beers, it’s a huge gusher. Pour is hazy copper with an almost comical head. The head looks like a white chef’s hat as it billows over the edge of my Duvel snifter. The head is a good 4-5 inches above the surface of the beer. Aroma is crisp hop, sweet malt/ honey, a light spiciness, and tea. Flavor is bubblegum, sweet malt, light brandy, light citrus hop, mild oxidation, and a touch of orange zest. The mouth is so effervescent that it kind of interferes with the flavor. But this is still better than I remember from my non-rating days.

Bottle->trappist: Pours a huge head, has an aroma of citrus, cut grass, and spruce. Tastes a lot like spruce as well. I didn’t get much else from this brew.

Big, off white head that is thick and long lasting. Looks great in the glass. Aroma of light fruit, died apples and alcohol. Definately sweet, to the point that it got that sugary burn on the back of the throat. It good if you like sweet and strong and not to dark.

Pours a hazy golden color, large off-white head. Sweet fruity esters, yeast, pear, sweet malt, light bread. A touch of pepper. Personly I think this beer is medicinally sweet, not a big fan.

11.6 ounce bottle from kappys liquors. Pours a hazy gold color and a ridiculous foamy 3 finger head that sits like marshmellow on the top of my 8 ounce tulip glass. Has a sugary, yeast smell. Taste is very complex and difficult to define. Everything from citrus to spice and fruity yeast. Crazy, good taste and at 10% abv keeps me warm and feeling good.

Hazy golden in colour with a large and long lasting off-white head, excellent lacing. The aroma is quite yeasty, very sweet, lots of apples and some pears, alcohol is noticeable as well. Lots of white sugar dominates the flavour, alcohol is also very noticeable as well, quite musty and yeasty, some honey. Hot mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes very alcoholic and sweet.

Getting old. The alcohol is still very dominate as everything else has seemed to fade away.

330ml bottle from the Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York.
Opened on January 5, 2010.
No date but purchased in November 2004.
