COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Bottle seems to be over carbonated as it poured a ridiculously massive head into my Duvel glass. Nonetheless, the aroma is outstanding. Yeasty with a fruit and honey center. The flavor is a smooth malt with a slight bitterness on the end. Like most belgian beer its all about the yeast. I can taste no trace of alcohol which makes this superbly drinkable. Ahh, if only all beer was this well crafted....life would make much more sense.

341ml bottle from HopDuvel, Gent, Belgium. Pours hazy yellow with immense head. Incredible lacing. Nose of spices, hops, bananas and cloves. Taste is a bit bitter spicy and hoppy. Alcohol is quite present. Very complex brew.

Year old bottle. Cloudy orange with a dynamic, creamy head, growing and settling quickly. Aroma of cinnamon, pine sol, and magnolia. Citrus, tart lemon, dusty cask, and molasses. Remarkable finish goes on for days.

Bottle at Paters Vaetje in Antwerpen. Nice hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma of pale malt, fruit, spices, and yeast. Flavor more of the same, somewhat sweet with De Dolle’s trademark yeast flavor and alcohol noticeable. Nice crisp palate, medium-full.

yet another 12 gauge blast from a de dolle 330. this might be the most aerated head from them yet, i can clearly see individual bubbles like cells. beer itself is very cloudy blonde, quite striking. nose is yeast and gigantic fruits, pineapple at the forefront. it is tempered with something softer and nearly sulfuric. flavor is insanity! cane sugar lies out in the open, unashamed of the fact that it seems somewhat unprocessed and under attenuated. still it provides a soft and luxurious mouthfeel. the fruits chase behind creating a juicy center. some de dolle brews are so strong that the booze really clobbers you, but this proves that is not their general MO. it is quite easy to get caught up in the yeast and esters and never remember you are drinking a 10% brew. this is utterly enjoyable, probably their best effort i have sampled yet.
