COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Had a 10 oz pour. Light orange hue. Smells of citrus and spices, and has a little of the new car smell. Tastes sweet and surprisingly light bodied for a 10% beer.

Draft. Pour is cloudy gold with a nice white head, good lacing. Aroma is candy, honey, fruity/spicy belgo yeast. Flavor is quite sweet, fruity, slightly bitter. Palate is creamy, soft, long warming finish.

10oz pour @ Fountainhead. Aroma of sweet apricots and yeast, belgiun goodness. Taste is typically blonde, some orange peel lightly having its say with an alcohol playing its part, finish is smooth. Warming sensation.

Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass also, deep golden nice head. Starts quite mild for a 10% ABV beer. Fine fruity malty, a bit sweet. Gets drier and drier, a bit alcoholic, fine warming. Finish again with a sweet note. Nice beer!

Draft at the Birch. This is a big creamy beer, milky even. Not sure I’ve ever had something like this with an almost sludgy mouthfeel, yet carrying a light spicy (corriander?) flavor base. Yet another killer selection at the Birch! (#4171, 7/13/2011)

Aroma is of tropical fruit while the appearance is golden and hazy. The flavor is of alcohol with the expected fruit but also a little harshness seeps in. It wasn’t bad but the harshness hurt the score, not sure where it came from but it detracts from this ale.

Bottle. Gusher! Hazy orange with large, small bubbled eggshell head. Nose sweet candied spiked fruit, some vegetal notes, weird DD yeast. Flavor is fruity and peppery, overripe fruits, more yeast. Finishes a little bitter. Not a huge fan.

330 ml bottle, as DDB Boskeun Speciaal Paasbier, from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. ABV is 10%. The glass fills completely by white foam, and the golden beer underneath appears only very slowly. Strong aroma of Belgian ale yeast, with fruity and spicy notes, also notes of white kandij sugar syrup and alcohol. Sweet flavour, with spicy, fruity and yeasty notes. The alcohol is noticeable, but not dominant. Peppery aftertaste.
