COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Bottle. Pours a very hazy orange, gold color with a very large, thick foamy head. nose is very sweet, caramel or candy maybe? very slight hops are present. nose also presents some grass and hay notes. taste is funky. has some yeast qualitys, alot of dry chalky feelings. Just noticed some lite citrus in the nose. back to the tast, it is very dry, like the sahara. but not at all flavorless, there are some definite peaks and valleys. hint of hops here, then some dry talcum powder effect. grass and hay leads to a rosin bag. its very peculiar. Im not quite sure what to make of it. I like it, then wish it hadnt visited my mouth. Im very confused. ok, now im beginning to feel some warming of alcohol. didnt feel that before. Im going to leave on a feeling of very dry, yeasty feeling with a slight alcohol wamth.

MAP (1133) - Lakewood, Ohio, USA - SEP 10, 2005
Hazy orange color with a thick white head. Aroma is odd, its something like sweet tarts. It has a very sweet side, then something similar to talc powder. Flavor comes off as a funny raspberry and wood combinationl. Sure, sounds like good characteristics of a beer, but this time, not so much. The taste is just off, theres some styrafoam flavor and just it doesnt blend well.

The bottle poured a slightly cloudy honey-colored beer. It had a huge stiff whip cream head that dissipated quickly but not completely. It left a small persistent white head that gave good lacing to the glass. The aroma presents green apples and honey with a slight hint of spicy hops. The body was surprisingly full with lively carbonation. The texture was slightly dry. The flavor begins with soft malt and a smooth sweetness. As it matures on the palate a secondary sweetness of fresh grapes presents itself. Then a bit of hop bitterness presents itself. The finish was long and slightly dry with an alcohol warmth.

very sweet aroma, honey and apple, along with some yeast. body was a cloudy pale ellow with a thick creamy white head that held for a decent duration. flavors of pepper, honey, grassy hops, and alcohol were decently balanced, with hints of apple. overall, i thought his was a little to hot and would probably age really well, but as it was the night i had it, the abv was too much.

(on bottle) Loads of yeast floating arond in fairly big chuncks, not nice. Acoholaroma, with notea of applepie; not much though. A very malty and warm alcoholic taste. Has an almost schanpse-like finish=perky and very warm. In the long finish, there´s some honey.

First off, this beer has been in and out of refrigeration for the last three years at least. I’m not expecting the best but here goes...Good carbonation at the opening. ENORMOUS white head pouring into my trusty Duvel glass. Orangish, yellowish color, with a definite amount of sediment milling around. Some pieces rather substantial. Good color, great head retenton, leaving sporatic bubles around the neck. The aroma has a pronounced lemony-citrus note, with a slight alcohol flare. The taste...Delicious! Damn those Belgians know how to make a beer for the ages! Residual sugar and lemon. The sweet and sour mix hits the tongue at different places at the same time. I guess that’s what meant as complex. So smooth. Slight honey, hoppy, tart dryness in the finish. Stellar brew!

Light, straw yellow body with massive, bubbling, white head. Loads of carbonation. Citrus, malt, light earth aroma. Sweet malty full creamy flavor and palate. Warming alcohol finish with lasting sweet aftertaste. Fuller flavor and palate than expected based on appearance. Last pour offered floaties and still a huge head.

Nice Belgian aroma, lots of yeast character, mostly a rich plummy fruitiness, there’s some clove and black pepper, honey-like maltiness, and some alcohol. Hazy gold with some yeast chunkies, quickly diminishing white head. Decent honey maltiness with a pronounced peppery and phenolic spiciness (I’ve noticed this quite a bit in Belgians that use honey), quite sweet. Medium full body with fizzy carbonation. Not a bad beer, possibly my least favorite from this brewer though.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2006 Sweet spun sugar aroma with a touch of spiciness. Cloudy gold/yellow color with a massive Belgian head. Spicy and overtly alcoholic. Some sweetness, but that plays second fiddle to the malt and hop bitterness that stand atop the alcohol and spice. Comes across much too harsh flavorwise for my taste. Thanks to Slob for this one.

3 June 2005 - (De Yserpoort cafe - Diksmuide) - Some sweet malt and hop aroma, but the aroma is low. Make sure the temperature is high enough. Light brown colour with a bit too much cloudy sediment for me, with good head and good lacing. Complex fruit flavour and full of hops. Bitter tangy finish and thick mouthfeel.
