COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2010 7% on the label. Orange color, a bit cloudy, frothy head. Honey aroma, a bit yeasty and a hint of metal. Bitter, yeasty and metallic flavor with some honey. Prickly. I remember much better Boskeun’s. What has gone wrong with this beer? Or is it just my tastebuds that are on strike? 5 4 6 2 10 = 2.7 1983 version, Kulminator Antwerp. Caramel, dust, cherry and a touch of sherry in the aroma. Ditto flavor, still a bit buttery. Low on carbon, but this beer is still in great shape (8 4 8 4 16 = 4.0) 2007 version, 10% ABV. Honey and a hint of vinegar in both aroma and flavor. Malty, orange, rosebuds. medium to full bodied. Sweet and alcoholic. The first signs of an upcoming tartness. I’m still not totally convinced, but there is improvement. 2008 version, tasted 13.02.10. Orange blonde, cloudy. massive gusher, lost about half of its contents. Cane sugar and honey in the aroma. Medium bodied. Honeyish but alcoholic flavor, first signs of an upcoming tartness.

This is a good Belgian ale. Pours with a big foamy head. Flavors are spicy, peppary and earthy. Finishes dry, warming and bitter.

Dark blond, slightly cloudy beer with a big off white head. Spicy with a light citrus taste. Lively, bitter with a well camouflaged alcohol. Dry, spicy slightly fruity aftertaste. I had this beer on tap at "den Spijtigen Duvel" in Turnhout. In this cafe environment the aroma was difficult to analyse.

Pours a cloudy, murky orange color with lots of yeast particles floating around. The head is white and small but lingers before dissipating. It has a interesting aroma of fruits, honey, pepper, caramel, and hops. Full body with medium carbonation, the flavor is malty with tons of caramel, fruit, and hop notes. Finish is long with a caramel sweetness and slight bitterness. This is a very complex beer, full bodied and rich with many different flavors that dance across your tongue.

Giant rocky white head. Winey citrus nose. Hazy golden-orange. Tons of carbonation, very effervescent. Very light footed, silky smooth. Spicey, cantaloupe, pear, woody, cork, finishes long and dry, with alcohol giving some weirdness. Definately drinkable, much better with warmth.

Bottle at the Amnesia in San Francisco. Hazy gold color with a white head. Flowery, honey, citrus, and light fruits in the aroma. Candy, zesty, and light in flavor.

Foamer/gusher! Started to gush when I openned the bottle and I quick pours to get a full 16 oz. glass of off white foam. Slowly settles to a dark golden hazy liquid. Light malt, light cloves, light honey, light fruit aromas. Gentle aroma that makes you work. Amazing head that does not stop. While the aroma is light, the flavors are full frontal.Make no doubts this is a Belgian strong. Warming alcohol tickles the nose and like chinese mustard, your sinuses are clear to further ponder the aroma. Honey, pears, bananas, touch of bubble gum, kiwi and pineapple flavors meld and mingle in the mouth and mind. This is truely a winter warmer. Malt does, rather remarkably) come out late in the finish. Interesting indeed.

Aroma is candy/bubble gum and a bit medicinal. Sweet malt body, thin, healthy, yeasty head. Finish is somewhat medicinal as the aroma would suggest...reminds me of a less crisp version of Orval. Cloudy golden body. Spicy, pleasant malt. Finish is not totally out of balance but isn't entirely pleasant either...abv comes through a bit strong on top of the already bizarre aftertaste. Complex but not exactly my style.

I’m a fan of the De Dolle Brouwers and this beer lived up to my expectations. Spicy, clovey nose; hazy orange color; tall foamy, rocky head with carbonation that doesn’t quit. Round up front with a chalky dry finish. Full body and big aggressive taste (what I like about these beers).
