COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

bhensonb (7583) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 30, 2007
UPDATED: MAY 29, 2008 33cL bottle. Aroma of sour fruit, yeast, spice (coriander?). Hazy, light gold amber color. The head went like it never was. Starts with caramel malt. Medium body, virtually no carbonation. Warming alcohol. Slightly sour stone fruits, perhaps with a little citrus. The hop doesn’t seem to come through. There’s enough sugar to offset the sour. It’s really refreshing. Wonder of wonders it finishes rather dry. A little astringent in a woody way. I’d say it’s complex. Rerate on 05/29/2008 at Poechenellkelder. Much the same rating. This is a spicey ale to die for.

Bottled (7,0% ABV): Light dusty orange coloured. Nice whitish lasting head. Hops, spices and caramel in the nose. Fruits (plums), hops, light sweetness and light alcahol in the flavour. Has a dry bitterness in the end. I really like this.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Murky amber ale with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Wonderful, lasting, creamy retention. Yeasty... breadsy... citrusy aroma. Notes of pink bubblegum and wildflower honey. Decently-balanced, lightly sweet flavor. Sweetbread up front; astringent bitterness afterward. Medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Alcohol is fairly well-disguised. Lengthy, dry, grassy finish. World class brew that really hit the spot on a warm, late Spring day.

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, murky orange-golden colour with a giant but not very persistent off-white foamy head. Yeasty, sweet and slightly sugary (cara-)malty and wheaty aroma with notes of overripe fruits (citrus, oranges) and spicy, slightly mouldy phenols. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Yeasty (cara-)malty taste with moderately fruity notes and peppery spicy accents; sweet and slightly hoppy and yeasty bitter finish with distinctive spicy notes and a warming alcoholic strength. 30.III.10

Etwas oxidierter, hell malziger Beginn. Trocken, alkoholisch, vergleichsweise süffig. Würzige, helle Kräuternoten. Etwas Karamell. Ein spezielles Bier, das trpotz seiner Stärke ausgewogen ist. Zum Ende würziger, deutlicher nach Karamell und Kräutern. 9/11/11/12/8/11

Poured a murky dark golden/orange with an average off-white head. Large particles. Smells of spices, yeasts, honey and bananas. Sweet tasting with a strong honey after taste. Not a bad ale but personally I don’t like honey that much…
