Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Another tasty number from De Dolle. Damn this is a great brewery. Heavily carbonated, pours a nice cloudy light copper. Has that oxidized maltiness of a beer that has been around awhile in the aroma which tinges of caramel and honey. Some nice spiciness and warmth upon first taste Soft sugary mouth feel. This is truly seasonal and delicious on a chill spring day.

On tap at PIB 2016, pours a hazy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast and light cardboard. Flavour brings out loads of Belgian yeast upfront, some light caramel and booze. Tastes much better than it smells. Yeasty, fairly sweet and moderately complex. Very nice.

Bottle. Colour...pale gold with a thin white head. Nose...a bit of cardboard to start but then fruity bits show as it warms. Palate...dry, full and frothy with massive fruity goodness laden with tropical fruits, dried apple, cane berry fruit leather and compote. The finish is long, dry and lightly cloying.

Bottle. Golden colour with a white head. Aroma is mainly sweet with banana, candy sugar, plums, spicy, yeast. Flavour has lots of spices and yeast, quite sweet with honey and sugar. Ends with alcohol burn in the throat. The mix between lots of spices and this much yeast flavour ending in alcohol is too much for me.

Amber and medium-bodied. Very foamy. Fruity and spicy aroma, with notes of banana. Highly spicy phenolic flavour, with a bit of alcohol, and a sweet, pungent taste, with medium bitterness. The finish has a note of something unknown that I do not appreciate. Overall, a good belgian strong ale. Very tasty.

Pleasant, roasty aroma of banana, nuts, vanilla and alcohol. It looks just alright, but not too enticing, a bit lumpy. I’m sorry to say that but the taste and palate is crap. For a second I thought it might be expired, but it’s not. Vinegary. Boozy. Waaaaay too fizzy. Long sour finish. Hard and unpleasant to drink, imo. Bonus points for the naive label, at least.

Light golden and greasy haze. Nice thin tight white bubbly head. Nose is sticky melon, ceramicy clove and tinny spice. Initial taste is a chalky sweetness and a quality boozey hum. Carbonation is firm and mouthfeel is taught and sticky. Finishes a bright fluffy marzipan buzz and lingers out and out clove spice.

Bottle at Appellation Wines tasting. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Faint lacing. Aroma of orange pith, spice and marmalade. Flavour of red apple and a hint of vinegar - unusual but not unpleasant. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Lively fizz. Not the easiest to drink.
