nhorween (528), New York, New York, USA Oct 12, 2006 Bottle. Hazy brownish-orange color with a huge off-white head consisting of big bubbles. Great retention. This smells like a belgian, no doubt about that. Bready, light yeast, sweet malts, slightly metallic, apple juice. The hops and honey are a really nice compliment in the aroma. Decent flavor. Bready, fresh, faint hops, light malts. Again the honey is there, but just barely. No alcohol to speak of, in the aroma or the flavor. Smooth, but bitter (like the pith of citrus), finish. This beer would be great in the summer (I’m sure I would’ve rated the flavor a bit higher if it wasn’t october...). Fresh mouthfeel, big carbonation. This is another nice beer from De Dolle, they haven’t let me down yet.
fiver29 (325), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Oct 2, 2008 We have a gusher!! Bottle pours cloudy golden color with a three finger white head. The head lasted throughout the drink and laced the glass. Aroma is mainly yeast and sweet sugar. Has a medium body with a lot of carbonation. Taste is mainly sweet sugar, yeast, and alcohol. Overall this is not a very complex brew, but is smooth and tasty all the same. dmac (880), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Sep 26, 2008 11.6 oz bottle purchased at Spirits Red Bank. Well when I opened this one up you would of thought it came off a paint shaker. This thing exploded like an insurgents head after getting hit at close range by a .50 sniper shot. Pours a hazy marmalade orange with lots and lots of visible floaties and an initially large foamy white head that settles into a nice white slick of head. Aroma of yeast, slight touch of alcohol, bubblegum, sugary dough, tropical fruit and fresh cut grass/hay. Medium to full bodied with super lively fizzy carbonation, some alcohol warming and a dry finish. Flavor of bread, dried fruits, champagne yeast and a touch of alcohol. Not sure if this beer needs more time or if I need gentler hands? Personally I think it’s the former not the later. cbeers21 (408), Miami, Florida, USA Sep 19, 2008 Absolutely stunning pour with a hazy golden hue and a brilliant and luxusious white foamy and lasting head. I cant remember seeing aprettier beer. Great mouthfeel too; allows for a slightly spiced lightly fruited brew to dance around the palate effortlessly. Not an overwhelmingly complex offering, just balanced and enjoyable. I didnt take too many tasting notes because I was simply enjoying the experience, will definately do this one again. GodOfThunder (24), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 17, 2008 Updated: Sep 18, 2008BLAM. Careful when opening this one. Foam goes everywhere.
The color is a cloudy yellow-ish brown color with head for days, lots of carbonation, and a good amount of lacing. The smell is a little citrusy, with some nutmeg or allspice in there, covering up the faint alcohol smell in the background. Almost reminds me of a fall beer.
The taste has a little kick from the alcohol with a lot of citrus elements combined, again, with a little autumn spice. It is a little dry, too.
Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. A good kick and a nice mixture of spice. oberabcbbsok (684), Hoboken, Belgium Aug 28, 2008 Tasted on bottle as well as from draft. Older versions 7 % in 2000, and 1996, 8,2 % from 82 till 87. A very nice beer and still good after more then 20 years old. I love it
