COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Fabulous appearance, as usual. Mountains of rocky off-white head piles up in clumps, leaving lacing everywhere and hardly receding below one-finger in height. Sparse streams of tiny bubbles drift upwards in the liquid. Medium-high clarity, leaving sediment behind (low floccing yeast it seems, as there is some haziness that wont drop despite putting it in the fridge a week before drinking)
Honey and sweet dough in the nose are balanced by fragrant, floral and spicy hops. Yeast esters are very dry, zesty and remind of very dry nectarine and unripened peach skins. Alcohol warmth definitely present, further drying things, but being interwoven with the fruit esters and malt very cohesively. Very strong nose, full and lasting. A touch of light cellar-like funk, but actually quite clean overall. Perfect balance between sweet and dry in the nose. Biscuit and honey malts are elegant and fresh.
A shot of honey and orange marmalade-like notes hit initially, followed by some spicy phenols and dry alcohol. Honey, bordering on light caramel creep in to the picture. The finish ends with one of the most elegant, cohesive, balanced flavors I’ve ever tasted. Dry for sure, but what is it? Is it dry, biscuity malt, dry fruit esters? Dry alcohol warmth? Dry, spicy hops? It’s perfectly melded together and very invigorating. Adding to this, lingering on the aftertaste is a superbly clean, clear note of honey covered biscuit-like malt that crescendos very pleasantly in to a lip smacking sweetness. Like beerdrenched says, complex and fun to drink. Tight, engaging carbonation, of course. Maybe a touch too much alcohol coarseness and very sweet in other parts, but still very unique.

Bottle. Pours out a dark gold topped with a tall cream head. Aroma of spice, sweetness, and malts. Tast if apple, pepper, sweetness, spice, and some abv for sure.

Aroma of spices, oranges, and a decent floral. Pours hazy amber with a gigantic head. Taste is intense. Great floral yeast with slight orange zest. Finishes with an earthy ginger. Nice one!

Bottle. Mostly clear golden in color with pillowy white head. Aroma is apples, yeast, and cinnamon. Nice, but nothing outstanding for the style. Taste is a slight step up. Still very yeasty, but the spice character is more present. Honey drys this beer out in the finish. Very nice, but too dry for me.

On tap @ Ølfestival København 2012. This is a light blurry golden beer with a small sidesticking and lacing off-white head. The aroma is light fruity with lot’s of melon and some sweet honey. It has a average carbonation level and a good oily texture. Taste is extreme melon zesty and kinda yeasty grassy with a touch of alcohol in the finish. Strong spicy almost pepperish burning aftertaste! Tasty. 10.05.2012

Questa è una grande birra! Aroma dolce e infine luppolato.

Bosskie (226) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 19, 2012
Creamy red-brown colour, opaque with chunky yeast. Good carbonation. Nice bubbly head. Orangy zesty citric smell with some pepper and some peach. Very subtle spiciness. Maybe some pine needles and thyme. Very fizzy with a delicious zesty citriness. Sour - heading towards grapefruit peel. Dry and refreshing with a lightly alcoholic finish.
