Boskeun is the nickname of Jo, one of the two brothers who preferred to brew blond beer at home. It is a special Easter beer, one of the first real Belgian Easter beers. (Slaghmuylder's paasbier being first). It has been brewed with pale malt, Golding hops, cane sugar and refermented with native honey. As it is a seasonal beer we suggest not to keep it eternally. The name Boskeun means rabbit of the wood (virgin wood, maybe?) and the label shows it, sampling the last brew.

Courtesy of Nordcore, thanks!
Appearance: Orange brown, cloudy. Sediments. Aroma: Orange, bananas, spices. Alcohol. Taste: Yeasty, some effed up fruit in there somewhere. Spices. Not something I would try again in a hurry. Info: 330ml bottle, 6/4-2013

33 cl. bottle poured in to a Trappist glass. Unclear, bordering muddy dark amber colour with a huge, fluffy off-white head. Sweet aroma with spices, cane sugar, a herbal sweetness from the honey, rich, toasted caramel malts, sweet fruits, light alcohol and yeasty notes. Taste is sweet. Full body, creamy to thick texture and a lively carbonation. Finishes sweet, fruity and herbal-spicy with warming alcohol. Excellent Paasbier from De Dolle.

Keg @ De Dolle Brewery bar, Esen. Pours a light yellow with perfect carbonation and a fresh floral aroma. The taste is pretty incredible, citrus, creamy lemon, sweet malts, candy sugar.. all blended exceptionally well. I could drink this all day long.

Bottle (330 ml). Slightly hazy golden with a huge mostly lasting white head and good lacing. There’s some particles though. Aroma is yeasty with honeyed malt, floral notes, peppery presence and some fruits. Taste is also yeasty, slightly sweet with honeyed malt, light fruits and a moderate peppery finish. Some alcohol warming in the finish too. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Slightly dry finish. Peppery. Good peppery Belgian Strong Ale.

Bottle. Hazy copper with a huge frothy white head. Yeasty nose. Flavour has honey, flowers, candy, straw, hay, plums, light stingy alcohol. Feels pretty light for the abv and the alcohol is well concealed but helps to balance the sweetness. Medium body, oily texture, high carbonation. The carbonation is a bit much, I think, but I guess it could get cloying if it was lower. One of the best paasbiers out there.

Bottle bought some place I can’t remember. Pours golden with a huge frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some soapy trace on the glass. Smell is malty and phenolic with biscuits, cereal, hay, ripe red apples, dark grapes, pepper corns, dark honey, lemon zest, orange zest, caramel and hints of marzipan. Taste is sweet, malty and tiny phenolic with crackers, cereal, caramel, marzipan covered baked pears, apple skins, hay, dry soil, pepper corns, St Johns wort, orange zest, honey and hints of caraway and cinnamon. Mouthfeel is soft, round, silky and near full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, tiny sour, tiny bitter, fruity, malty and phenolic with bread, cereal, honey, sheet metal, unripe pears, orange zest and St Johns wort. Solid solid stuff...

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein minimal trübes organgegoldenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig süß, alkoholisch, belgische Hefe. Geschmack sehr malzig alkoholisch, fruchtig, würzig

Bottle at home (Feb 2013). Pours a golden yellow to amber with a huge frothy white head. Aroma of sweet honey and fruits, yeast and flowery hops. Sweet floral, fruity, taste with a dry, hoppy bitter, finish. A nice brew, but probably nicer in spring time, or maybe even with Eastern..
