4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, - JUL 5, 2009
A Mes rate. Draught at ZBF, also a sample of the ‘other’ version from a bottle thanks muchly to Chris. Guess I should also thank him for the two free samples he gave me later on. What a gent! Glorious dark amber brown colour with a tasty looking tan head. Aroma is awesome. Wonderfully fruity, sour and dry with some excellent damp wooden notes. Flavour... Christ on a bike! That’s what I’m talking about. In all honesty, I was feeling a little basic when I got to Zythos following the awesome Pre ZBF fest at Alvinne. However the moment this little beauty passed my lips I experience total clarity and complete understanding of the universe. It’s just SO much fun. Dry, tart, sour, incredible fruit, some Coca Cola and a character that is both aged and lip smackingly fresh at the same time. Superb length, equally amazing palate. There is just so much to like about this beer. I knew a new De Dolle beer was something to get excited about but this one really exceeded expectations. An utterly stunning beer and a real shame that the chances are high that I’ll never get to taste it again.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Mortlach (436) - Rome, ITALY - MAR 17, 2012
16/03/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap).
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - JUL 13, 2011
RBESG 2010, draught at Brasserie 4:20 Dark brown color. Strange aroma, sweet, dusty caramel, good body strength; sweetish caramel flavor, with light fruitness and decent sourness. It lacks some freshness in character to be really appreciated.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 30, 2011

At De Dolle, a treat sorted out by Chris I think it is? Whatever, a treat. Ta for the holiday Mes, Sim, Harrisoni. Dark brown with a small tan head. Great smell, fruity and sour and soy sauce. Unique, very unusual. To me anyway. Very tart and sour, fruit, almost a wine like quality. Thanks for the treat everyone. A special beer.

Draft. A brown beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of bread, wood, brettanomyces, caramel, and vinegar. The flavor is acidic with notes of malt and caramel, leading to a tart finish.

in liquid form At RBESG 2010 Rome ... deep brown ... thin tan lacing ... woody chalky roast malt ... little choclate nose ... light tart but not sour ... loads of chocolate ... decent enought but not me.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Papsoe (22987) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 19, 2010
On tap. RBESG Rome 2010. Pours a hazy deep orangey golden with an off-white head. Tart and very sophisticated aroma of wood and honey with a tart edge. Medium body, has a light whiff of hard roasted malt, but it’s the massive sourness and acetone that dominates. Maybe the starting off point was a Porter but the result is much closer to a Flemish Red. 030610
