pumpkinheart (53), Aurora, Illinois, USA May 14, 2008 Tap at The Bavarian Lodge, Lisle, IL into 12 oz. Tulip glass. A hazy gold-orange with a chunky white head that left magnificent Belgian lacing. Aroma was a mega-powerful blast of malty fruitiness. I smelled this long before the glass got to my nose. The flavor was an absolutely crazy, yeasty, malt-fruit with a significant alcohol tingle-burn all around the palate. The alcohol runs out in front of all things: aroma, taste, palate. The mixture of flavors that I admittedly coudn’t distinguish because it was such a menagerie were shocking at times. Definately a sipper that left me, not a small man, mind you, a bit light-headed by the end. I’ll almost certainly try this from the bottle for the comparison and am glad to have had the rare chance to taste this from the tap. Other than that, I may not drink this again. It was a fun experience, but maybe too extreme a ride for my regular enjoyment. BlackDonald (428), Anchorage, Alaska, USA May 11, 2008 This was really a tasty little treat. Lots of fresh citrus fruit qualities, rinds and skins and all. Rich and sweet maltiness, with just a bit of honey and caramel. mjs (263), Finland May 10, 2008 (An aged bottle at Pikkulintu 2008-03-04)
Golden colour, almost clear. Fruity nose with lots of malts. Taste has got lots of malts and salty liquorice aromas. Some whisky. Chocolate. Barley wine like raisin flavours. tarjei (825), Bryne, Norway May 9, 2008 Bottle at Ørsted Ølbar. Hazy amber/brown color, big off-white head. Aroma is fruity and sweet. Flavor is sweet, with hints of hops and yeast. Nutty finish. Great stuff! MrChopin (58), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 5, 2008 Nose has spicy aroma with some grassy citrus and sweetness reminiscent of bubblegum. Opaque golden color with huge white head, lacing galore. Taste has citrus coupled with some bread, alcohol, a little metal, some sweet caramel. Palate kicks with alcohol. An intense and unique tripel, if that’s what the bitch wants to be known as.
