pumpkinheart (63), Aurora, Illinois, USA May 14, 2008 Tap at The Bavarian Lodge, Lisle, IL into 12 oz. Tulip glass. A hazy gold-orange with a chunky white head that left magnificent Belgian lacing. Aroma was a mega-powerful blast of malty fruitiness. I smelled this long before the glass got to my nose. The flavor was an absolutely crazy, yeasty, malt-fruit with a significant alcohol tingle-burn all around the palate. The alcohol runs out in front of all things: aroma, taste, palate. The mixture of flavors that I admittedly coudn’t distinguish because it was such a menagerie were shocking at times. Definately a sipper that left me, not a small man, mind you, a bit light-headed by the end. I’ll almost certainly try this from the bottle for the comparison and am glad to have had the rare chance to taste this from the tap. Other than that, I may not drink this again. It was a fun experience, but maybe too extreme a ride for my regular enjoyment.
Borresteijn (448), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 21, 2008 Bottle @ Café Gollem. Hazy yellow/amber colour, big white head, lots of carbonation. Aroma is fruity, spicy, yeast, malts, tart. Flavour is fruity sweet, yeasty, spicy and ends a bit sour. punkrkr27 (342), Clawson, Michigan, USA Aug 18, 2008 Yellowish copper pour with a big, rocky white head and some floating sediment. The aroma has notes of honey, white grape, citrus, spice, yeast, dust, flowers, and faint alcohol. The flavor is sweet, dry and flowery with a faintly doughy malt backbone. Lots of lingering, spicy European hops and alcohol on the finish. Sticky medium body with loads of carbonation. mirjukka (316), LOHJA, Finland Aug 13, 2008 bottle 330m shared at One Pint Pub Helsinki
amber fizzy fruity bit sour tickling in the mouth alcohol presents esters pleasant aftertaste. FatPhil (2063), Espoo, Finland Aug 11, 2008 330ml bottle (One Pint, Helsinki)
Cloudy orange, small head. huge estery aroma, a little gluey. Alcoholic and fizzy palate. Rich malty body, a little bit of rubber. Heady - winey and a little alcoholic, but spookily pleasant. Too much alcohol, but otherwise a lovely brew. acearl (171), Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 10, 2008 Bottle, oragnish, lighter than I had anticipated, there was a citrus sour or bitter after taster which was not expected and overall I did not really like all that much.
