Tranquillity (1165), Espoo, Finland Feb 29, 2008 Fruity aroma, grapes and even vanilla. Hazy carrot colour, big biege head which disappears. Taste vanilla, malt, and not much alcohol at all. Very good long, bitter finish. Actually, the finish was more bitter than you’d think: this was the first beer in the morning on a trip to tallinn. The morning after was very bitter indeed, and I blame it all on this mad bitch. grimreeser (795), Minnesota, USA Feb 27, 2008 Updated: Feb 29, 2008Pours golden with a large white head. Aroma of yeast and spices. Nice flavor, good palate. Very nice. Sephiroth (66), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Feb 25, 2008 I pour the contents of the undated bottle into a tulip. It is a slightly hazy golden color. The nose is malty and spicy.
This is one of the drier tripels I have tasted. Hints of cloves and bananas up front, followed by spices. I am not familiar with the names of spices, so I will just say that there is a lot going on here.
The mouthfeel is creamy, and well carbonated. The drinkability is good. This beer has a very clean finish.

Some funk in the aroma along with fruit, apples and flowery, grassy hops. Sweet full body. All of this plus some oxidized apples show up in the taste, which is nicely bold. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 21, 2008 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Bottle. Pours a murky caramel color. An absolutely obscene amount of sediment residue is present. Looks like I should’ve been more careful with the pour. Huge billowing fluffy white cotton head. Dry lacing. Aroma of apricot, peach, banana, clove. Flavor is great. Apricot, ginger, banana, warm cider, plum, a slight chalkiness. Very drinkable, with a spicy thin-body (despite the Volkswagen-sized sediment), and well balanced. Very well made. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA Feb 20, 2008 Been sitting on this bottle for about a year now... can’t wait any longer! As far as Abbey Tripels go I’m a fan of La Fin Du Monde, so that’s kind of my standard. This is a textbook Tripel IMO. The palate is exceptional. It has a nice carbonation but with a silkiness that may have developed during the aging. Lots of particles. Tripels are probably my favorite type of beer to smell and this is no exception. Typical yeasty aromas with some ’nilla wafer. A deeper inhale reveals some alcohol and rubber cement? I enjoyed this one and it’s a hard one for me to find. nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Feb 17, 2008 On tap at Max’s Belgian fest in Baltimore. Transparent straw yellow with a slight white head ringing the glass. Smells yeasty and floral. Flavor is grapey with some barnyard funk, yeast and bananas. Finish has some strong heat from the alcohol and some bitterness. Solid, but nothing unexpected. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Feb 17, 2008 330. Pours a cloudy buttery medium amber with a thick and billowing platinum blonde head. Intermittent starry lacing. Caramel, butterscotch, sugar, and hay on the nose. Medium, creamy, slightly fizzy body. Caramel, green apples, sugar, hay, grass, and floral notes on the mid-palate. Slight alcohol bite. Nice appley finish. Great stuff.
