Commercial Description:
De Dulle Teve is brewed in the tradition of a Belgian Triple. Its high density stems from large amounts of pale malt increased with pale candi sugar in the brew kettle. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, bottle-conditioned.

De Dulle Teve keeps two to three years without major changes in taste. Further maturing, up to 10 years, will cause it to darken a little and lose some of its bitterness. The bittering of about 30 IBU is due to Goldings hops in the brew kettle.

Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel" tasting. Huge white heasd, straw colored to light orange amber in color. Orange, yeast aroma with slight spice, slight green apple. Bourbon flavor with alc, dough, malt accentuated, spice, orange, red apple. Medium to full body with slight creaminess. Not bad.

Bottle. Two finger, slightly off-white head. Hazy amber body. Some flakes settling in the glass. Nose is cider-like, sweet, hints of honey, grassy hops, fruity flavors of melon and pear. Flavor has sweet malt, bitter orange, grape skin bitternss, alcohol is noticeable. Fruity esters and very mild dusty funky yeast complexity, esp. at the end. Finish is slight hop bitterness, dryness. Mouthfeel has some alcohol burn, some residual oiliness from the hops.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark golden color with an abundance of yeast sediment floating through the liquid. The large off white head is mostly lasting and carbonation is persistent. The aroma is orange citrus, alcohol, some hops, a little spice, and sweet. The flavor has a sweet malt base with some flowery hops, orange citrus, some alcohol (although not showing 10 %),spices, and a little bitterness. A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel.

(330 ml bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/portland/ target=blank>Downeast Beverage Co., cellared for 10 mos. after purchase) Sweet and fruity...Pours cloudy amber with two fingers of quite sturdy light biege head. Aroma of fruit, candyish malt, cotton candy and sherry. Mouthfeel medium-full, very lightly prickly, quite smooth. Flavor is fruity and sweet with quite a bit of sherry-like alcohol presence which actually doesn’t create much of a burn. Notes of fruit, candy-malt sweetness, cotton candy and light butterscotch.

clear golden with a huge lacy white head. Aroma of grapeskin, alcohol, candy and light spice. Reasonably light, but alcoholic body, sweet and pleasant. Flavour has lots of nuts and sweet candy, with some light breadiness and alcohol (not near 10% though). A bit more fruitiness (citric) in a sweet and moderately alcoholic finish.
