xibalba89 (147), New York, New York, USA Oct 26, 2007 Pours a slightly cloudy gold with a nice head. The aroma is filled with spices... I notice mustard, coriander and citrus notes. Really refreshing smell. The flavor has a lot of spice on the front, but has nice sweet and crisp finish. Very similar to the Smijse beers... if I had tasted it blind, wouldn’t have pegged it as a De Dolle. But still, another excellent creation from an excellent brewery. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Oct 22, 2007 Mad Bitch beer chosen in honor the Mad Witch fire going on in San Diego right now. $5 12oz bottle from Hi-Time. Big 3 finger white head head that won’t die, much like the smoke from a fire. The fire (liquid) is a yellow amber color. Lots of little floaties (ash). The head settles to a masterful thick creamy microbubble head with thick remnant blobs clinging to sides of the glass.. The head is a little reminiscent of Orval’s head. Aroma is a little cardboard/hay, some corriander, some orange. Alchohol is pretty well hidden. Kind of odd tannic bitterness that works with the beer. Leans sweet. footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA Oct 21, 2007 8/13/05 330ml. side by side with Westmalle. Hazy golden/amber with massive white head. Sweet fresh fruit and hay/grass aroma. Sruity spicy hay and orange flavor. with a strong ending bitterness. The Westmalle was a little more balanced and just a little better. smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA Oct 15, 2007 Cloudy and slightly hoppy. Huge flavor of fruits and spices.
Oh man! Delicious!!! Alcohol is hidden pretty well. Ansset13 (127), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Oct 13, 2007 Pours cloudy and coppery, with an enormous white head that last, lacing the glass beautifully. The nose is strongly ruled by grapefruit and coriander tones followed more subtly yeast, and sugar. The flavor is sweet , sugary with touches of citrus and fine belgian yeast, that cover the alcohol very well. A great tripel! Pastor (509), Maine, USA Oct 7, 2007 Bottle poured cloudy amber large white head. Aromas of grapfruit and spices . Sweet fruity and spicy flavors along with a alcohol warmth and a light bitter finish . Bubbly and dry on the palate .
