crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA Mar 16, 2006 Definitly one hell of a beer. Flavor is full of alcohol with the usual yeast flavor that belgians have and has a very dry aftertaste with the alcohol sticking around in your mouth for a while like taking a shot. I am really picky with belgians, and while some i absolutly love, there are many highly rated that really don’t tickle my fancy. This is kind of one of those. While it is a good beer and i’m not complainin to much, i just wouldnt buy it again. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Mar 13, 2006 33 cl bottle. Yeast at the bottom. amber colour with a nice head. Great smooth aroma of yeast, orange, caramel and hints of alcohol. Very alcoholic flavour with notes of yeast, caramel and ends very dry with a high carbonation. Sincere (145), wichita, Kansas, USA Mar 11, 2006 Updated: Aug 31, 200612 oz bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a thick white head that lasts a while. Smells very sweet with a slight almond and earthy aroma. The taste is very sharp and sweet at first, with an incredibly smooth malty finish. The abbey has an incredibly bubbly yet smooth mouthfeel, with just a slight warm alcohol tingle. Highly reccomended. I’m not sure the going price elsewhere, but here, single bottles of this stuff is usually $4.95, but Davis Liquor had these on sale for $1.99 each! For me, a steal. beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Mar 7, 2006 From bottle. Poured with a lot of beautiful head. Smells of citrus and spices very strong, very refreshing. The color is a murky blonde, cannot see through the beer. The taste is great as well. I am surprised it was a tripel,, drinking it I was thinking Belgian Ale/Blonde all the way. I was extremely surprised by the 10% alcohol, I would not have figured more than 7, very well hidden. The body is a heavy medium. A refreshing feeling going down the throat. Great brew. GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland Mar 1, 2006 [bottle from dorsvlegel] Pours an orangey colour with a bit fluffy head. Lots of fruity aromas, orange, peac, banana also cloves, yeast. full bodied with a bit of alcohol in the finish. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 27, 2006 Updated: Nov 30, 2006Lots of carbonation. Some spice and lighter fruits, I thought it felt a little yeasty. And the alcohol certainly came through a bit. Re rate: Bottle: Hazy yellow orange, big white head. Aroma, spicy, yeast, corriander and banana. Flavor, yeast, bready mouthfeel, light citric notes, some mild spicing. A little warming on the tail end. Good stuff. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Feb 27, 2006 Bottle at The Kulminator, Antwerp. Not sure what year this one was but the label said bottled in 07/96. Cloudy gold colour. Lovely caramel aroma. Sweetish in mouth. Just an unbelievable beer. Raisins/sultanas. Slightly musty. Some plastic/rubber aroma. Bizarre, but hops are superb. Bottle a more up to date bottle, so will re-rate later. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 20, 2006 Has a rather unattractive aroma that is mostly dominated by a medicinal scent. Pours a dark gold with a big fizzy white head. Flavor is pretty big on the alcohol, but there is a rather delightful sweet malt finish. I guess I’m not a big fan of tripels, or at least these last two that I had.
