3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrBunn (2216) - Western, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 22, 2006Pour is a clear amber, lots of effervescence and a massive frothy head that dies down quicker than most Belgians and has bigger bubbles, too. Aromas of apple juice are hitting me from two feet away as it sits on the desk waiting. As the head dies down and I put the rest in the glass it has taken a slightly darker color an has become murky. Fruit still dominates the nose... maybe white grapes enter the mix on a second sniff. There is good lacing on the sides of the glass as the head dies down. Mouthfeel is fairly heavy. You can tell that the fruity aspects are the main show here, mostly sweet up front with a grain presence following and then a little burst of sourness as the sip fades to a memory. A little more unidimensional than I expected, though as the fruit flavors are definitely the feature. I had wished for a little more complexity of flavoring here... not terribly disappointed, just didn’t live up to my expectations based on other De Dolle products.

Glad the bartender told me to try this brew. Don’t want to be that tool in the bar scouring Ratebeer to make his decision, and thus was unaware of this beer’s stellar reputation. Poured amber like the color of tree sap. Smells of honey and hops. Taste sweet but not too sweet. A great-ish beer. Draft - Brick Store Pub - Decatur. GA
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Scopey (3239) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2013
Bottle at home (a few years old). It pours cloudy gold with a massive white head. The nose is preserved orange, candied peel, strong aniseed & liquorice, clove, touch of herb and orange liqueur. The taste is zesty orange, apricot, peach, candy, pear, hay, earth, alcohol, good deal of spice, herbal notes, icing sugar and some decent bitterness with a dry, warming finish. Full body and moderate-high carbonation. Pretty tasty, but also rather boozy. To be enjoyed in small measures...

Dark cloudy, milky appearance-head dropped off fairly quickly. Powerful nose-intense oranges-perhaps too intense? Incredibly deep, rich taste-really nice but almost bordering on a liquor? Wouldn’t be drinking too many of them in a session but a very nice beer....

First of all, this is very special beer. Nice looking foam one can feel in mouth. Very sophisticated taste. High quality hops gives very nice bitterness. 10% alcohol you feel only in your head, not in taste. When beer gets warmer in glas the taste is getting more interesting. To a jungle of tastes.

Bottle 33 cl @ HBF 2013. Pours hazy murky brown copper golden with medium smooth tan creamy medium head. Very good notes of yeast , citrus, hops. Reminds me of some trappist beers in the yeastiness. This one is really fresh and refreshingly smooth.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours hazy orange in color with a cramy white head. I must say this feels super fruity, mostly some exotic fruits, fruity squares in a box mix and light notes of lemon in aroma. Feels really fresh. Some yeasty spicy notes in taste as well. Orange peel in aftertaste. Overall a very refreshing beer which reminds me of De Ruyck 125 jubileums beer.
