Commercial Description:
De Dulle Teve is brewed in the tradition of a Belgian Triple. Its high density stems from large amounts of pale malt increased with pale candi sugar in the brew kettle. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, bottle-conditioned.

De Dulle Teve keeps two to three years without major changes in taste. Further maturing, up to 10 years, will cause it to darken a little and lose some of its bitterness. The bittering of about 30 IBU is due to Goldings hops in the brew kettle.

Poured an orangish-straw color with a tall rocky white head that leaves behind some lacing in irregular swaths. Aroma has a definite sweetness to it, but the aroma isn’t a one-trick pony like most tripels. There’s an earthy spice component akin to a saison present, but the overall aromatic impression is heavier than a saison. Mouthfeel is thick. Taste is slightly hot, with some spice present, and a good deal of sweet. An interesting tripel. Not much of the De Dolle funk present, at least in the vein of brews like Oerbier, but still a unique brew.

Sour orange aroma. Pours golden blonde with a huge white head, as the bubles keep rising. Rich flavor, some citrus, starfruit, sweet sugar, a hint of grapes, and a little dry. There’s some spicey flavor in there i can’t place. Very complex flavor but entirely refreshing!

330 ml bottle purchased at Spirits RB. Pours a brownish orange solid body with an enormous pure white super dense, rocky, frothy, large bubble having, incredible staying power showing, great lace leaving head. (Is that enough adjectives for ya) Fruity yeasty aroma with notes of apple, banana, white grapes, pine apple and sugar. Full mouth feel with rather lively carbonation and some noticable alcohol warmth on the back of your throat. Grainy bready flavor with notes of yeast and possibly a slight touch of apple but no where near as fruity or sweet as the aroma. Solid beer. Drank this while watching Live Free or Die Hard, if I wasn’t trying to lose wait it would of been LIve Free and Drink Hard but I’m trying to keep it to just a few beers today.

Cloudy dirty orange with a big white head of small bubbles that has good retention and nice lacing. Suspended yeast sediment. Aroma is small with citrus fruit and some sour funk. Flavor is also citrus fruit with yeast, sugar, and alcohol. A bit of funk, as well. A nice fruit, yeast, and alcohol aftertaste lingers. Thick and zesty in the mouth.

Bottle. Best Pour Ever. STarts out clear gold w/ a huge white rocky head. Head resides to leave a nice island in teh middle of the brew. On second look, beer is clear gold on the bottom, then gradually gets cloudier and light brown colored. Lots of swirling sediment. Nose is very yeasty and fresh with some light caramel and sweet sugary notes. Taste is big caramel up front then leads to some light hopps, yeast and grass notes. A stingy, refreshing feeling on the tongue leads to a slight alcohol warming throughout the entire mouth.

A ridiculous amount of gushing, even after soft handling! Rather annoying. Thick, rich honey-golden color (dirty but wonderful) and the head took years to dissipate! Aroma of pilsner malts, lemon, honey, piney hops, orange. Sweet, yet also a dry austerity in there. Sweet, strong flavor with honey and lots of fruits like cherries and apples. Big alcohol burn as well. Maybe too evident. Very interesting, though, like but then unlike any other tripel. Extreme.

2003 750ml Bottle, tasted December 30, 2006. Beautiful bright orange pour with a big fluffy white head of lacy foam. As the foam recedes from the glass it leaves behind some string lace. Aroma is spicy and flowery, almost saison-ish. Flavor is slightly sweet initially, then the tongue scrapping dryness kicks in. Flowery and spicy. Tripels are one of my least favorites, but this is quality. No hot alcohol in either the aroma or the flavor.
