Murky dark yellow, lively rich head. Grassy hops up front. Sweet and full bodied with soft, rounded mouthfeel. Pepper and tar strikes, and then gentle toffee takes over until the grassy bitter finsih. Rich and complex.
Old rating, bottled. Dark yellow. Sweetish smell. Light and lively mouthfeel. Sweet and very hop aromatic. Big biterness. Very tasty! (8/4/8/15/16) Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England

Light gold with a big fluffy white head. Alcohol and spice in the aroma. First sip, and wow this is strong. The alcohol is hardly subtle but that doesn’t matter as it actually seems to improve the beer. Great malty/spicy/alcohol flavours, so full of flavour with a long aftertaste. Really good. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 12, 2005 bottle. murky orange-brown with little specks of yeast sediment and a long-lasting rocky off-white head. full complex yeasty aroma - notes of sweet banana, prunes, raisins, and chocolate. this beer is very rich and takes a long time to drink, though I’m not saying that’s a bad thing! smooth creamy body. sweet cereal/oat and yeast flavours with lots of fruit essence and spice. alcohol is felt throughout but isn’t overwhelming at all. the finish has some bittersweet chocolate and stays with you for a while. superb stuff. I’ll have to pick up more bottles. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA

The beer pours a hazy orange-gold color, and produces a prodigious white head. There is a lightly dusty, herbal, floral, and grassy aroma to this beer. It is sharp and herbal in taste, and is very well carbonated. It is lightly sweet with notes of honey and spices. It is almost spicy hot in character, quite interesting actually. This beer is definitely musty in character, it is like it has been lightly dusted with some pollen from a slightly astringent, yet floral flower. It is slightly lemony in character, with a hint of apple to it as well. The beer gets a bit sweeter as the copious amounts of carbonation starts to dissappear. There is also a nuttiness here in the middle of the beer, which adds to the complexity. I really like the interplay between the spiciness and the fruity sweetness, a very good balance that melds into an incrediple beer. run20six2 (119), USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 2, 2004 Updated: Mar 27, 2008(Bottled, BBE 12/2003, sampled 03/2008) Dry and fruity, slightly alcoholic aroma. Perfectly balanced flavor with no alcohol at all. At least as good as a fresh one, although probably past its peak. Beautiful!
(Bottled) Dark orange color with a medium, tight and creamy head. Extremely fruity, very crisply spicy-anisey aroma with salmiac and sour cream. Slightly sugary, very fruity anise flavor with berries and some alcohol burn in the finish. The ABV is quite well hidden, though. Medium to full-bodied, smooth, although moderately high-carbonated and refreshing palate. A very enjoyable and tasty, mouth-blowing tripel. The bottles seem to vary quite much in quality: the last one I had was very dry, acidic and carbonated, with overpowering alcohol - and no complexity whatsoever.
(Earlier rating, bad bottle? 5-4-5-3-11=2.8) Amber color, big head. Dry pear cider aroma with some sour apple involved. Flavor is heavily hoppy and sour. Extremely carbonated, cider/sparkling-like palate. Not my favorite, thats for sure. omnivore (270), San Francisco, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 16, 2005 Cloudy (unfiltered) amber and translucent with a REALLY REALLY hyperactive head on it. Smells sweat and bready. Makes the mouth water. Sweet attack with a broad, bready flavor that quickly evaporates into an alcoholic tang.
