Hazy golden amber colour with a mostly lasting creamy off-white head and thick lacing. Caramel, citrus, spices, light acidity, alcohol, floral, and persimmon aroma with dry yeasty notes. Caramel, candy sugar, orange and lime citrus, spicy, and yeasty flavours, with a sweet brown sugar finish. Full bodied, warming, almost chewy mouthfeel, but effervescent. Very tasty, but seems underattenuated for a tripel. vyvvy (2069), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 10, 2007 Pours copper / golden with a rich frothy white head. The aroma is quite spicy with wild yeast, barnyard traits and some white grapes - tart and tangy, drier than most tripels. Medium body with lots of playful spritzy carbonation. The flavors start with moderately sweet thick pale malt, some honey, some vineous notes and light spice. The finish brings out the distinct Belgium traits - earthy yeast, barnyard and such. There is a bit of spice and some alcohol presence. A very nice verion of a classic style that is not as sweet as most. Big thumbs up. madsberg (5152), Søborg, Denmark

Spicy and quite complex flavour. Has lots of alcahol notes. Quite dry in the aftertaste. Pleasant beer, that you have to be careful with. Hits you like a horse Braudog (3789), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Draft at Eulogy, Philadelphia. Deep golden with a thin top. Sweet sugary aroma. Drinks with that syrupy backdrop, honey, and maybe a pinch of corriander spiciness. Fully bodied. Delicious. (#3182, 11/8/2007) C5Drvr (18), Tinton Falls, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2004 A huge light and fluffy head that clung to the sides of the glass like a fat kid holding a cupcake. Hazy appearance that was darker than a gloden brown, maybe honey colored. Powerful alcohol flavor with a clove and fruity follow on. Hits the palatte with the strengh that one might expect from a double digit % alcohol beer. Flavor remains true till the very end, when it leaves you with a sweet, alcoholic, bitterness that remains. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 6, 2005 Poured a HUGE head, with carbonation jumping in the glass. First sip burned me pretty good, but nice flavor, opened up the tongue! As it warmed, got much better, alcohol flavor subsided. Citrus and spice dominate to me. Good stuff! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 1, 2007 (33cl bottle, received from bierkoning more than a year ago) Hazy, orange coloured hue with loads of yeast-floaties and a huge, almost white frothy head. Slightly dusty, moderately sweet and fruity (citrus, apples) malt aroma with a distinctive vinous touch, accompanied by spicy herbal notes. Sweet flavour with sourish fruity accents, full bodied with a lively carbonation. Full malty body, moderately yeasty with a pleasant fruit-character (apples, grapes, citrus); sweet malty, slightly tart fruity finish with a light but balancing hoppy touch and a remarkable alcohol management. Very good ! JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Poured an orangish-straw color with a tall rocky white head that leaves behind some lacing in irregular swaths. Aroma has a definite sweetness to it, but the aroma isn’t a one-trick pony like most tripels. There’s an earthy spice component akin to a saison present, but the overall aromatic impression is heavier than a saison. Mouthfeel is thick. Taste is slightly hot, with some spice present, and a good deal of sweet. An interesting tripel. Not much of the De Dolle funk present, at least in the vein of brews like Oerbier, but still a unique brew.
