COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
De Dulle Teve is brewed in the tradition of a Belgian Triple. Its high density stems from large amounts of pale malt increased with pale candi sugar in the brew kettle. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, bottle-conditioned.

De Dulle Teve keeps two to three years without major changes in taste. Further maturing, up to 10 years, will cause it to darken a little and lose some of its bitterness. The bittering of about 30 IBU is due to Goldings hops in the brew kettle.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2008 Bottle. Hazy honey color, scant head, bad retention. Flavor is tinny, sweet and mellow, apricot notes. Flavor is overly sweet, nectar, pear, one dimensional. Mouthfeel is bubbly and silky, good fresh characters. I was a bit let down by this, above average, but not amazing. Rerate - better than I remember. Mellow, well balanced, and super chewy triple. Doughy with tons of floaters. Much better than I remember. Rerate - tremendous, great balance, super beer.

Bottle, 330 ml. Pours clear dark amber with a finger of off-white head. Carb is visible. Big fruity aromas of apple pie/crumble, plum, and citrus. Also picking up notes of mint, banana and bubblegum (like in some German hefeweizens), general cake and honey malt, and even something slightly herbal or medicinal; interesting stuff thus far! Dark/muscovado sugar and treacle/molasses are the biggest notes in the taste, though there’s also a noticeable sour edge here, with citrus and sour apple notes emerging. Dark fruits are prominent too. Rather full bodied, thick, and oily, and with some carbonation sticking around. Quite interesting and imaginative take on the traditional abbey style overall.

Pours with an insane top. Very aggressive, white, to slightly off white. Beer is murky brown, a lot of carbonation. Aroma of malts and some fruit notes, slight sour hint of notes. Taste is exceptionally full. Sweet at first, then slightly sour, tasting buds have a lot of work here. After the first impression, strong full aftertaste, some caramel feeling. Aftertaste is slightly acidic, but pleasant, and the warmth of the alcohol % can be felt in your tummy. An extraordinary beer!

Draft at Max’s. A pale and hazy yellow with a soft white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast and funk, melon, banana, and spices. Flavors of banana, hay, clove, a little lemon. Body is medium, mouthfeel is full and sticky. Really terrific. Alcohol is present but very well hidden at this ABV.

Yet another Belgian beer that had slipped past my radar: finally caught up with it in De Bierboom, Brugge on Sunday 7th Feb 2016. Dark amber body, slight haze: beige head that wanted to hang around. Nice blend of aromas and flavours, semi-sweet malty molasses with a bittering hop presence linked by a yeasty bonding that brings out fruit esters from the hops and draws out mild caramel hints from the malts. Far to easy to drink, I almost had another bottle but it was only 12:00 (noon) and I was on a tasting mission.
