De Dulle Teve is brewed in the tradition of a Belgian Triple. Its high density stems from large amounts of pale malt increased with pale candi sugar in the brew kettle. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, bottle-conditioned.

De Dulle Teve keeps two to three years without major changes in taste. Further maturing, up to 10 years, will cause it to darken a little and lose some of its bitterness. The bittering of about 30 IBU is due to Goldings hops in the brew kettle.

Draft tulip @ Bavarian Lodge. Hazy golden color. Head has fallen in, but this is the end of the keg, and I asked for it. Smell is faint to my stuffy nose, just a suggestion of sweet tripel malts. But not as sweet as the tripels I usually get. A dry pinot finish supported by some hoppiness.I’m pleased to find the dryness sticks around, with a bit of leaf spice–sage, maybe. I like it much, but just wonder if some of what I like is just yeast from the keg bottom.

Aroma: light fruits, good white wine, white and black peppers, some wild season-like notes. Taste: very light sweeteness, light sourness. Flavour: white grape, mature white wine, spices (black pepper, pimento). Light spicy alcohol bitteness in the aftertaste. Very good.

Bottle from Dranken Verheyen in Poppel. Blond/light amber to golden, rather clouded/hazy beer, with a nice and sticky foam. The beer is nicely carbonated with a strong aroma with fruity hints, with tropical and dark fruits, citrus, green apples and plums. In the background some hidden alcohol and spices are noticable. The taste is refreshing, crisp and smooth and has a slightly bitter taste, with some well hidden alcohol and a nice bouquet of fruits, really nicely balanced. Then the aftertaste leaves a sour, yeast-like impression, which becomes a hoppy, dry bitter finish. Wow, different from for example Karmeliet or Westmalle but I’m impressed.

Bottle. Pours in hazy amber body with medium stable creamy head. Aroma has light alcohol upfront with gentle peach fruity maltiness, floral, light banana and yeast. Taste has upfront white wine alcohol with fruity after taste, light woody with mostly banana, peach, some passion fruit. Alcoholy but in a really good balance. Body is medium, little bit oily, warming alcohol in the after taste, medium carbonation. I find alcohol in most of the "fresh" beers disturbing, but I must admit an very nice balance here.

In bottiglia.
